Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds Alhamdo lillaahe rabbil a’alameena اَلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعالَمينَ
And blessings of Allah and peace be on our Chief Muhammad, His Prophet, and on his children wa sallallaaho a’laa sayyedenaa mohammadin nabiyyehi wa aalehi wa sallama tasleeman وَصَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلى سَيِّدِنا مُحَمَّدٍ نَبِيِّهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ تَسْليماً
O my Allah! (All) praise is for Thee for that which Thou decided upon and resolved in the matter of Thy friends, whom Thou purified for Thyself and Thy religion allaahumma lakal hamdo a’laa maa jaraa behi qazaaa-oka fee awleyaaa-ekal lazeenas takhlastahum lenafseka wa deeneka اَللّهُمَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ عَلى ما جَرى بِهِ قَضآئُكَ فى اَوْلِياَّئِكَ الَّذينَ اسْتَخْلَصْتَهُمْ لِنَفْسِكَ وَدينِكَ
When wisdom and high rank from Thee, prostrated themselves in adoration before them (from the Bountiful Preserving Lord), for whom neither there was any decreased, nor dispersion thereafter, then Thou stipulated for them piety and righteousness ezikh tarta lahum jazeela maa i’ndaka menan na-e’emil moqeemil lazee laa zawaala lahu wa laz-mehlaala ba’da an sharatta a’layhemuz zohda اِذِ اخْتَرْتَ لَهُمْ جَزيلَ ما عِنْدَكَ مِنَ النَّعيمِ الْمُقيمِ الَّذى لا زَوالَ لَهُ وَلاَ اضْمِحْلالَ بَعْدَ اَنْ شَرَطْتَ عَلَيْهِمُ الزُّهْدَ
While they were in this mean and crooked world, free from its pomp, vanity and false enjoyments fee darajaate haazehid dunyad daniyyate wa zukhrofehaa wa zibrejehaa فى دَرَجاتِ هذِهِ الدُّنْيَا الدَّنِيَّةِ وَزُخْرُفِها وَزِبْرِجِها
Thy overreaching authority made known their identity; and equipped them with sincerity and perfection stood surety for them and communicated intimately with them, sent the news of their auspicious arrival in advance, and praised them in clear terms for the benefit of one and all. fa-sharatoo laka zaaleka wa ‘alimta minhomul wafaaa-a behi faqabiltahum wa qarrabtahum wa qaddamta lahomuz zikral a’liyya was sanaaa-al jaliyya فَشَرَطُوا لَكَ ذلِكَ وَعَلِمْتَ مِنْهُمُ الْوَفاَّءَ بِهِ فَقَبِلْتَهُمْ وَقَرَّبْتَهُمْ وَقَدَّمْتَ لَهُمُ الذِّكْرَ الْعَلِىَّ وَالثَّناَّءَ الْجَلِىَّ
Fell down on the ground in prostration Thy Angels before them, Thou chose them to reveal Thy Words, gave them Thy wisdom as a gift, set them up as the (only) medium to reach Thee, the only means to the eternal land of peace and happiness. One dwelled in Paradise until Thou sent him on (as the first Prophet). wa ahbatta a’layhim malaaa-ekataka wa karramtahum be-wah-yeka wa rafadtahum be-i’lmeka wa ja-a’ltahomuz zaree-a’ta elayka wal waseelata elaa rizwaaneka fa-ba’-zun askantahu jannataka elaa an akhrajtahu minhaa وَاَهْبَطْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ مَلا ئِكَتَكَ وَكَرَّمْتَهُمْ بِوَحْيِكَ وَرَفَدْتَهُمْ بِعِلْمِكَ وَجَعَلْتَهُمُ الذَّريعَةَ اِلَيْكَ وَالْوَسيلَةَ اِلى رِضْوانِكَ فَبَعْضٌ اَسْكَنْتَهُ جَنَّتَكَ اِلى اَنْ اَخْرَجْتَهُ مِنْها
One was made to cruise the “Ark”, and had been rescued, and kept safe from destruction through Thy mercy Wa ba’-zun hamaltahu fee fulkeka wa najjaytahu wa man aamana ma-a’hu menal halakate berahmateka وَبَعْضٌ حَمَلْتَهُ فى فُلْكِكَ وَنَجَّيْتَهُ وَمَنْ آمَنَ مَعَهُ مِنَ الْهَلَكَةِ بِرَحْمَتِكَ
One was chosen and prepared for Thy Mission, as (Thy) Friend, (who) made a request to Thee for a good report in (his) later generations, so Thou approved and complied with, exalted them and gave them authority wa ba’-zun ittakhaztahu lenafseka khaleelan wa sa-alaka lesaana sidqin fil aakhereena fa-ajabtahu wa ja-a’lta zaaleka a’liyyan وَبَعْضٌ اتَّخَذْتَهُ لِنَفْسِكَ خَليلاً وَسَئَلَكَ لِسانَ صِدْقٍ فِى الاْخِرينَ فَاَجَبْتَهُ وَجَعَلْتَ ذلِكَ عَلِيّاً
One was spoken directly through the Tree, his brother was appointed his successor and helper wa ba’-zun kallamtahu min shajaratin takleeman wa ja-a’lta lahu min akheehe rid-an wa wazeeran وَبَعْضٌ كَلَّمْتَهُ مِنْ شَجَرَةٍ تَكْليماً وَجَعَلْتَ لَهُ مِنْ اَخيهِ رِدْءاً وَوَزيراً
One was brought in without a father, was given clear proofs, and was supported with the Holy Spirit wa ba’-zun awladtahu min ghayre abin wa aataytahul bayyenaate wa ayyadtahu be-roohil qodose وَبَعْضٌ اَوْلَدْتَهُ مِنْ غَيْرِ اَبٍ وَآتَيْتَهُ الْبَيِّناتِ وَاَيَّدْتَهُ بِرُوحِ الْقُدُسِ
For each Thou prescribed a Divine law, and set up a traced out path, each was appointed a guardian-executor, (and each) fulfilled the duty after being kept safe and protected, in the term of establishing Thy religion wa kullun shara’-ta lahu sharee-a’tan wa nahajta lahu minhaajan wa takhayyarta lahu awseyaaa-a mustahfezan ba’-da mustahfezin min muddatin elaa muddatin eqaamatan le-deeneka وَكُلُّ شَرَعْتَ لَهُ شَريعَةً وَنَهَجْتَ لَهُ مِنْهاجاً وَتَخَيَّرْتَ لَهُ اَوْصِياَّءَ مُسْتَحْفِظاً بَعْدَ مُسْتَحْفِظٍ مِنْ مُدَّةٍ اِلى مُدَّةٍ اِقامَةً لِدينِكَ
a witness and argument over Thy servants (mankind), Lest the truth staggered from its firm stand and foundation, and the falsehood conquered the hearts of the people, and might not say a single man: wa hujjatan a’laa e’baadeka wa le-allaa yazoolal haqqo a’n maqarrehi wa yaghlebal baatelo a’laa ahlehi wa laa yaqoola ahadun وَحُجَّةً عَلى عِبادِكَ وَلِئَلاّ يَزُولَ الْحَقُّ عَنْ مَقَرِّهِ وَيَغْلِبَ الْباطِلُ عَلى اَهْلِهِ وَلا يَقُولَ اَحَدٌ
“If only Thou had sent a Messenger unto us as a Warner, to show us the path of wisdom and guidance, so that we might have followed Thy revelations before we were (thus) humbled and disgraced!” lawlaa arsalta elaynaa rasoolan munzeran wa aqamta lanaa a’laman haadeyan fanattabe-a’ aayaateka min qable an nazilla wa nakhzaa لَوْلا اَرْسَلْتَ اِلَيْنا رَسُولاً مُنْذِراً وَاَقَمْتَ لَنا عَلَماً هادِياً فَنَتَّبِعَ آياتِكَ مِنْ قَبْلِ اَنْ نَذِلَّ وَنَخْزى
Then Thou made plans to bring out the wonderful advent of Muhammad, (Send blessing on him and on his children) Elaa anin tahayta bil-amre elaa habeebeka wa najeebeka mohammadin sallallaaho a’layhe wa aalehi اِلى اَنِ انْتَهَيْتَ بِالاَْمْرِ اِلى حَبيبِكَ وَنَجيبِكَ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ
So Thou just as chose him master of Whosoever Thou created, made him (whom Thou Selected), pure, clean and the best, exalted and praised him (whom Thou elected), surpassed in generosity and liberality while bestowing high-mindedness and beneficence upon him (whom Thou took in confidence and relied upon); fa-kaana kaman tajabtahu sayyeda man khalaqtahu wa safwata manis- tafaytahu wa afzala manij tabaytahu wa akrama manea’ tamadtahu فَكانَ كَمَا انْتَجَبْتَهُ سَيِّدَ مَن ْخَلَقْتَهُ وَصَفْوَةَ مَنِ اصْطَفَيْتَهُ وَاَفْضَلَ مَنِ اجْتَبَيْتَهُ وَاَكْرَمَ مَنِ اعْتَمَدْتَهُ
made him leader-in-chief of (all) thy Prophets, and sent him to the troubled world of men and jinn, among Thy servants, lowered and humbled before him the Easts and the Wests qaddamtahu a’laa ambeyaaa-eka wa ba-a’stahu elas-saqalayne min e’baadeka wa aw-taatahu mashaareqaka wa maghaarebaka قَدَّمْتَهُ عَلى اَنْبِياَّئِكَ وَبَعَثْتَهُ اِلَى الثَّقَلَيْنِ مِنْ عِبادِكَ وَاَوْطَاْتَهُ مَشارِقَكَ وَمَغارِبَكَ
under his total control was brought all affairs, exalted his soul in Thy heavens gave over to him the knowledge of what took place and what will happen, concerning facts and operation of creation wa sakhkharta lahul boraaqa wa a’rajta be roohe-hi elaa samaaa-eka wa awda’-tahu i’lma maa kaana wa maa yakoono elan qezaaa-e khalqeka وَسَخَّرْتَ لَهُ الْبُراقَ وَعَرَجْتَ بِرُوْحِهِ [بِهِ] اِلى سَماَّئِكَ وَاَوْدَعْتَهُ عِلْمَ ما كانَ وَما يَكُونُ اِلَى انْقِضاَّءِ خَلْقِكَ
Then invested him with awe and majesty, Jibraeel, Meekaaeel, and distinguished Angels stood around; him at his beck and call, gave Thy word to him that Thou would make his religion prevail over all religions, however much the idolaters may be averse summa nasartahu bir roa’-be wa hafaftahu be-jabra-eela wa meekaa-eela wal mosawwemeena min malaaa-ekateka wa wa-aztahu an tuzhera deenahu a’lad deene kullehi wa law-karehal mushrekoona ثُمَّ نَصَرْتَهُ بِالرُّعْبِ وَحَفَفْتَهُ بِجَبْرَئيلَ وَميكاَّئيلَ وَالْمُسَوِّمينَ مِنْ مَلا ئِكَتِكَ وَوَعَدْتَهُ اَنْ تُظْهِرَ دينَهُ عَلَى الدّينِ كُلِّهِ وَلَوْ كَرِهَ الْمُشْرِكُونَ
Thereafter acknowledged his atonement and provided good and perfection for his children, allotted for him and his children the first sanctuary appointed for mankind, at Becca (Mecca), a blessed place, a guidance to the people wa zaaleka ba’-da an bawwa-tahu mobawwa-a sidqin min ahlehi wa ja-a’lta lahu wa lahum awwala baytin woze-a’ lin-naase lal-lazee be-bakkata mobaarakan wa hodal lil a’alameena وَذلِكَ بَعْدَ اَنْ بَوَّئْتَهُ مُبَوَّءَ صِدْقٍ مِنْ اَهْلِهِ وَجَعَلْتَ لَهُ وَلَهُمْ اَوَّلَ بَيْتٍ وُضِعَ لِلنّاسِ لَلَّذى بِبَكَّةَ مُبارَكاً وَهُدىً لِلْعالَمينَ
wherein are plain and clear signs; the place where Ibraahim stood up to pray, and whosoever enters it is safe feehe aayaatun bayyenaatun maqaamo ibraaheema wa man dakhalahu kaana aamenan فيهِ آياتٌ بَيِّناتٌ مَقامُ اِبْراهيمَ وَمَنْ دَخَلَهُ كانَ آمِناً
Thou said: “Allah’s wish is but to remove uncleanness far from you, O “People of the House”, and purify you with a thorough purification.” wa qulta innamaa yoreedullaaho le-yuzheba a’nkomur rijsa ahlal bayte wa yotahherakum tatheeraa وَقُلْتَ اِنَّما يُريدُ اللَّهُ لِيُذْهِبَ عَنْكُمُ الرِّجْسَ اَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ وَيُطَهِّرَكُمْ تَطْهيراً
Thereupon Thou settled conclusively fee (recompense) of Muhammad (Thy blessings be on him and on his children) love for them, in Thy Holy Book. Summa ja-a’lta ajra mohammadin salawaatoka a’layhe wa aalehi mawaddatahum fee ketaabeka ثُمَّ جَعَلْتَ اَجْرَ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَواتُكَ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ مَوَدَّتَهُمْ فى كِتابِكَ
So Thou said: “Say (O Muhammad): I ask of you no fee (recompense) therefore, save love of (my) Kinsfolk.” fa-qulta qul laa as-alokum a’layhe ajran illal mawaddata fil qurbaa فَقُلْتَ قُلْ لا اَسْئَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ اَجْراً اِلا الْمَوَدَّةَ فِى الْقُرْبى
And Thou said: “Whatever recompense (return) I have asked for you, (it) is only for yourselves.” And Thou said: “I ask of you no reward for this, save that, whoso will, chooses a way unto his Lord.” wa qulta maa sa-altokum min ajrin fahowa lakum wa qulta maa as-alokum a’layhe min ajrin illaa man shaaa-a ayn yattakheza elaa rabbehi sabeelan وَقُلْتَ ما سَئَلْتُكُمْ مِنْ اَجْرٍ فَهُوَلَكُمْ وَقُلْتَ ما اَسْئَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ اَجْرٍ اِلاّ مَنْشاَّءَ اَنْ يَتَّخِذَ اِلى رَبِّهِ سَبيلاً
Therefore they are the (only) means to (approach) Thee, the (only) medium to get Thy favours. fa-kaanoo homus sabeela elayka wal maslaka elaa rizwaaneka فَكانُوا هُمُ السَّبيلَ اِلَيْكَ وَالْمَسْلَكَ اِلى رِضْوانِكَ
So Thou certainly did not let his hard work go waste, and gave authority to his successor, Ali ibne Abi Taalib, (Thy blessings be on them both, and on this children), a guide. At the time when he was made a warner and a guide for every people falamman qazat ayyaamohu aqaama waliyyahu a’liyyabna abee taalebin salawaatoka a’layhemaa wa aalehemaa haadeyan iz kaana howal munzera wa le-kulle qawmin haadin فَلَمَّا انْقَضَتْ اَيّامُهُ اَقامَ وَلِيَّهُ عَلِىَّ بْنَ اَبيطالِبٍ صَلَواتُكَ عَلَيْهِما وَآلِهِما هادِياً اِذْ كانَ هُوَ الْمُنْذِرَ وَلِكُلِّ قَوْمٍ هادٍ
said he (the Holy Prophet), their Guide, in a public meeting overflowing with people; “Of Whomsoever I am the Mawlaa (Lord, Master) Ali is his Mawlaa. O Allah! be a friend of him who is a friend of him, be an enemy of him who is an enemy of him, help that man who helps him, forsake that man who forsakes him” and said: “Of whosoever I am the Prophet Ali is his Chief.” fa-qaala wal mala-o amaamahu man kunto mawlaaho fa-a’liyyun mawlaaho allaahumma waale man waalaaho wa a’ade man a’adaaho wan-sur man nasarahu wakh-zul man khazalahu wa qaala man kunto anaa nabiyyahu fa-a’liyyun ameerohu فَقالَ وَالْمَلاَُ اَمامَهُ مَنْ كُنْتُ مَوْلاهُ فَعَلِىُّ مَوْلاهُ اَللّهُمَّ والِ مَنْ والاهُ وَعادِ مَنْ عاداهُ وَانْصُرْ مَنْ نَصَرَهُ وَاخْذُلْ مَنْ خَذَلَهُ وَقالَ مَنْ كُنْتُ اَنَا نَبِيَّهُ فَعَلِىُّ اَميرُهُ
And said: “I and Ali are (one basic root of) a tree, and the rest of mankind are like diverse plants, he proclaims the position (relationship) of Haaroon to Moosaa.” wa qaala anaa wa a’lyyun min shajaratin waahedatin wa saa-irun naaso min shajarin shattaa Wa ahallahu mahalla haaroona min moosaa وَقالَ اَنَا وَعَلِىُّ مِنْ شَجَرَةٍ واحِدَةٍ وَسائِرُالنّاسِ مِنْ شَجَرٍ شَتّى وَاَحَلَّهُ مَحَلَّ هارُونَ مِنْ مُوسى
Therefore he told him: “I am to you as Moosaa was to Haaroon, but certainly there is no Prophet after me.” fa qaala lahu anta minnee be-manzelate haaroona min moosaa illaa annahu laa nabiyya ba’-dee فَقال لَهُ اَنْتَ مِنّى بِمَنْزِلَةِ هارُونَ مِنْ مُوسى اِلاّ اَنَّهُ لا نَبِىَّ بَعْدى
His (Ali’s) life partner was his (Muhammad’s) daughter the chief of the women of the worlds. Lawful was for him (Ali), in “the mosque”, that which was permitted to him (Muhammad), all doors were closed, except his door. wa zawwajahub-natahu sayyedata nesaaa-il a’alameena wa ahalla lahu min masjedehi maa halla lahu wa saddal abwaaba illaa baabahu وَزَوَّجَهُ ابْنَتَهُ سَيِّدَةَ نِساَّءِ الْعالَمينَ وَاَحَلَّ لَهُ مِنْ مَسْجِدِهِ ما حَلَّ لَهُ وَسَدَّ الاَْبْوابَ اِلاّ بابَهُ
He (Muhammad) gave his knowledge and wisdom into his (Ali’s) keeping. He said: “I am the city (center) of knowledge and Ali is its gate. summa awda-a’hu i’lmahu wa hikmatahu fa-qaala anaa madeenatul i’lme wa a’liyyun baabohaa ثُمَّ اَوْدَعَهُ عِلْمَهُ وَحِكْمَتَهُ فَقالَ اَنَا مَدينَةُ الْعِلْمِ وَعَلِىُّ بابُها
Whoso desires to approach and dwell in the city of knowledge and wisdom should come through its door. faman araadal madeenata wal hikmata falyaatehaa min baabehaa فَمَنْ اَرادَ الْمَدينَةَ وَالْحِكْمَةَ فَلْيَاْتِها مِنْ بابِها
Thereafter he said: “You are my brother, successor and inheritor, your flesh is my flesh, your blood is my blood, your truce is my truce, your fight is my fight, faith is blended, mixed and mingled (part and parcel) in your flesh and blood, just as it is compounded in my flesh and blood summa qaala anta akhee wa wasiyyee wa waaresee lahmoka min lahmee wa damoka min damee wa silmoka silmee wa harboka harbee wal eemaano mokhaaletun lahmaka wa damaka kamaa khaalata lahmee wa damee ثُمَّ قالَ اَنْتَ اَخى وَوَصِيّى وَوارِثى لَحْمُكَ مِنْ لَحْمى وَدَمُكَ مِنْ دَمى وَسِلْمُكَ سِلْمى وَحَرْبُكَ حَرْبى وَالاْيمانُ مُخالِطٌ لَحْمَكَ وَدَمَكَ كَما خالَطَ لَحْمى وَدَمى
you shall take charge of the reservoir of my inheritance, you are the fulfilment of my religion, you shall execute and keep alive my “way of life”, your friends and followers shall speak with authority, command respect and hold the torch of good manners and refinements, their faces will be all around me in the eternal land of peace and bliss (Paradise), in my close company wa anta ghadan a’lal hawze khaleefatee wa anta taqzee daynee wa tunjezo e’daatee wa shee-a’toka a’laa manaabera min noorin mubyazzatan wojoohohum hawlee fil jannate wa hum jeeraanee وَاَنْتَ غَداً عَلَى الْحَوْضِ خَليفَتى وَاَنْتَ تَقْضى دَيْنى وَتُنْجِزُ عِداتى وَشيعَتُكَ عَلى مَنابِرَ مِنْ نُورٍ مُبْيَضَّةً وُجُوهُهُمْ حَوْلى فِى الْجَنَّةِ وَهُمْ جيرانى
Were it not you O Ali, the faithfuls would not know the truth after me.” After him (Muhammad) be (Ali) was the guide for the wanderers, a bright light in the blind darkness, the strong rope of Allah, and the right path Wa law-laa anta yaa a’liyyo lam yoa’-rafil mo-minoona ba’-dee wa kaana ba’-dahu hodan menaz zalaale wa nooran menal a’maa wa hablallaahil mateena wa seraatahul mustaqeema وَلَوْلا اَنْتَ يا عَلِىُّ لَمْ يُعْرَفِ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ بَعْدى وَكانَ بَعْدَهُ هُدىً مِنَ الضَّلالِ وَنُوراً مِنَ الْعَمى وَحَبْلَ اللَّهِ الْمَتينَ وَصِراطَهُ الْمُسْتَقيمَ
did not ever hold back kindness and compassion from the common people, nor ever made excuses or delay to give priority to the matters of religion, nor blew his own trumpet nor felt proud of his glory, did the same thing the Messenger used to do, (Blessing of Allah be on them both and on their children) put an end to misinterpretation, did not lose temper, for the sake of Allah, if any one turned to mud-slinging and name-calling. laa yusbaqo beqaraabatin fee rahemin wa laa be-saabeqatin fee deenin wa laa yulhaqo fee manqabatin min manaaqebehee yahzoo hazwar rasoole sallallaahu a’layhemaa wa aalehemaa wa yoqaatelo a’lat taaweele wa laa taa-khozohu fillaahe lawmato laaa-emin لا يُسْبَقُ بِقَرابَةٍ فى رَحِمٍ وَلا بِسابِقَةٍ فى دينٍ وَلا يُلْحَقُ فى مَنْقَبَةٍ مِنْ مَناقِبِهِ يَحْذُو حَذْوَ الرَّسُولِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِما وَآلِهِما وَيُقاتِلُ عَلَى التَّاْويلِ وَلا تَاْخُذُهُ فِى اللَّهِ لَوْمَةُ لا ئِمٍ
He had thrown the proud tribal chiefs of Arabia into a fright, destroyed their heroes, attacked and dispersed their cavalries, because of which hatred and deep grudge took root in their hearts. Badr, Khaybar, and Hunain created jealousy and envy in them qad watara feehe sanaadeedal a’rabe wa qatala abtaalahum wa naawasha zoa-baanahum fa-awda-a’ qoloobahum ahqaadan badriyyatan wa khaybariyyatan wa honayniyyatan wa ghayra hunna قَدْ وَتَرَ فيهِ صَناديدَ الْعَرَبِ وَقَتَلَ اَبْطالَهُمْ وَناوَشَ ذُؤْبانَهُمْ فَاَوْدَعَ قُلُوبَهُمْ اَحْقاداً بَدْرِيَّةً وَخَيْبَرِيَّةً وَحُنَيْنِيَّةً وَغَيْرَهُنَّ
therefore, united they joined hands to oppose him, and came out in great number to fight against him, till he destroyed all deserters, who had swerved from what was right, the shameless who deviated from true religion, while he was carrying out the important mission. fa-azabbat a’laa a’daawatehi wa akabbat a’laa monaabazatehi hattaa qatalan naakeseena wal qaaseteena wal maareqeena wa lammaa qazaa nahbahu فَاَضَبَّتْ عَلى عَداوَتِهِ وَاَكَبَّتْ عَلى مُنابَذَتِهِ حَتّى قَتَلَ النّاكِثينَ وَالْقاسِطينَ وَالْمارِقينَ وَلَمّا قَضى نَحْبَهُ
Killed him a malicious criminal, a contemporary, serving the interest and following the doctrine of earlier impudent villians. An unparalleled and outlandish approach was applied to the directions of the Messenger of Allah, (Blessings of Allah be on him and on his children), concerning the “Guides” (Imaams), one after the other. The narrow-minded obstinate “ummah” did not care for and had ill-feelings towards him. wa qatalahu ashqal aakhereena yatba-o’ ashqal awwaleena Lam yumtasal amro rasoolillaahe sallallaaho a’layhe wa aalehee fil haadeena ba’-dal haadeena wal ummato mosirratun a’laa maqtehi وَقَتَلَهُ اَشْقَى الاْخِرينَ يَتْبَعُ اَشْقَى الاَْوَّلينَ لَمْ يُمْتَثَلْ اَمْرُرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ فِى الْهادينَ بَعْدَ الْهادينَ وَالاُْمَّةُ مُصِرَّةٌ عَلى مَقْتِهِ
Flocked together to pass up and deny his connection with his family, and pushed his children out of their way, but a handful of sincere faithfuls kept their promise and dutifully upheld the rights of his children; Some were slain, some were held prisoners, some were sent to distant foreign lands, and they met face to face (when came upon) their destiny (martyrdom). mujtame-a’tun a’laa qatee-a’te rahemehi wa iqsaa-e wuldehee illal qaleela mimman wafaa le-re-a’a-yatil haqqe feehim fa-qotela man qotela wa sobeya man sobeya wa uqseya man uqseya wa jaral qazaaa-o lahum مُجْتَمِعَةٌ عَلى قَطيعَةِ رَحِمِهِ وَاِقْصاَّءِ وُلْدِهِ اِلا الْقَليلَ مِمَّنْ وَفى لِرِعايَةِ الْحَقِّ فيهِمْ فَقُتِلَ مَنْ قُتِلَ وَسُبِىَ مَنْ سُبِىَ وَاُقْصِىَ مَنْ اُقْصِىَ وَجَرَى الْقَضاَّءُ لَهُمْ
That which is given to each (of them) as reward of good deeds is the best recompense, since the earth belongs to Allah, and He gives it for an inheritance to whom He wants from among His servants, and the (good) end is for the God-fearing wise; glory to our Lord! Verily the promise of our Lord must be fulfilled; Allah does not break His word, He is Almighty, Wise. bemaa yurjaa lahu husnul masoobate iz kaanatil arzo lillaahe yooresohaa man yashaaa-o min e’baadehi wal a’aqebato lil-muttaqeena wa subhaana rabbenaa in kaana wa’do rabbenaa la mafoolan wa layn yukhlefallaaho wa’-dahu wa howal a’zeezul hakeemo بِمايُرْجى لَهُ حُسْنُ الْمَثُوبَةِ اِذْ كانَتِ الاَْرْضُ لِلّهِ يُورِثُها مَنْ يَشاَّءُ مِنْ عِبادِهِ وَالْعاقِبَةُ لِلْمُتَّقينَ وَسُبْحانَ رَبِّنا اِنْ كانَ وَعْدُ رَبِّنا لَمَفْعُولاً وَلَنْ يُخْلِفَ اللَّهُ وَعْدَهُ وَهُوَ الْعَزيزُ الْحَكيمُ
So be purified and refined by making known and remembering the choicest children of Muhammad and Ali, blessings of Allah be on them both, and on their children. fa-a’lal ataa-ebe min ahle bayte mohammadin wa a’liyyin sallallaaho a’layhemaa wa aalehemaa فَعَلَى الاَْطائِبِ مِنْ اَهْلِ بَيْتِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلِي صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِما وَآلِهِما
The heartbroken, in tears, make their hearts bleed, together with them, the deeply moved perceptive men of letters describe their wisdom and liberality, as they themselves used to do, eyes of sensitive and thoughtful people are full of overflowing tears, their voices choked up with emotion; they cry out to protest against the injustice done, they call up dumb and insensate souls to stir and take notice. fal-yabkil baakoona wa iyyaahum fal-yandobin naadeboona wa le-mislehim fal-tuz-rafid domoo-o’ wal yasrokhis saarekhoona wa yazijjaz zaaajjoona wa ya-i’jjal a’aajjoona فَلْيَبْكِ الْباكُونَ وَاِيّاهُمْ فَلْيَنْدُبِ النّادِبُونَ وَلِمِثْلِهِمْ فَلْتَذْرَفِ الدُّمُوعُ وَلْيَصْرُخِ الصّارِخُونَ وَيَضِجُّ الضّاَّجُّونَ وَيَعِجَّ الْعاَّجُّوَن
Where is Hasan? Where is Husayn? Where are the children of Husayn? The whole good, one and all! The truth altogether! Where is the regular unbroken vital connection? Where is the on going sequence of desirable goodness? Where are the clear source and spring of Light (vision and insight)? Where are the lively vivid handsome faces? Where are the distinctly visible pioneers? Where are the “know all the answers” scholars who communicated and made clear the religion of Allah? The fundamentals of knowledge and wisdom! Where is the ‘Everlasting legacy of God”? (never ever is the “family of Guides” without One). Aynal hasano aynal husayno ayna abnaaa-ul husayne saalehun ba’-da saalehin wa saadequn ba’-da saadeqin aynas sabeelo ba’-das sabeele aynal kheyarato ba’-dal kheyarate aynash shomoosut taale-o aynal aqmaarul moneerato aynal anjomuz zaaherato ayna aa’-laamud deene wa qawaa-e’dul i’lme ayna baqiyyatullaahil latee laa takhloo menal i’tratil haadeyate اَيْنَ الْحَسَنُ اَيْنَ الْحُسَيْنُ اَيْنَ اَبْناَّءُ الْحُسَيْنِ صالِحٌ بَعْدَ صالِحٍ وَصادِقٌ بَعْدَ صادِقٍ اَيْنَ السَّبيلُ بَعْدَ السَّبيلِ اَيْنَ الْخِيَرَةُ بَعْدَ الْخِيَرَةِ اَيْنَ الشُّمُوسُ الطّالِعَةُ اَيْنَ الاَْقْمارُ الْمُنيرَةُ اَيْنَ الاَْنْجُمُ الزّاهِرَةُ اَيْنَ اَعْلامُ الدّينِ و َقَواعِدُ الْعِلْمِ اَيْنَ بَقِيَّةُ اللَّهِ الَّتى لا تَخْلوُ مِنَ الْعِتْرَةِ الْهادِيَةِ
Where is the impenetrable defense who broke the back of the oppressive tyrants? Where is the “awaited saviour” who will set the have-nots and the depressed on their feet? Where is the “The Hope” who will put and end to tyranny and oppression? Where is the “preserved guaranty” who shall give new life to rule of law and refined way of life? Where is the “Chosen in preference good” who shall raise the spirits of the people and give currency to justice and fairplay? Where is the “hope-giving confidante” who shall make full use of the “Book” and define the sphere of action? aynal mo-a’ddo le-qat-e’ daaberiz zalamate aynal muntazaro le-eqaamatil amte wal i’waje aynal murtajaa le-ezaalatil jawre wal u’dwaane aynal muddakharo le-tajdeedil faraa-eze was sonane aynal motakhayyaro le-e-a’adatil millate wash sharee-a’t aynal mo-ammalo le-ehyaaa-il ketaabe wa hodoodehi َيْنَ الْمُعَدُّ لِقَطْعِ دابِرِ الظَّلَمَةِ اَيْنَ الْمُنْتَظَرُ لاِِقامَةِ الاَْمْتِ وَاْلعِوَجِ اَيْنَ الْمُرْتَجى لاِِزالَةِ الْجَوْرِ وَالْعُدْوانِ اَيْنَ الْمُدَّخَرُ لِتَجْديدِ الْفَراَّئِضِ وَالسُّنَنِ اَيْنَ الْمُتَخَيَّرُ لاِِعادَةِ الْمِلَّةِ وَالشَّريعَةِ اَيْنَ الْمُؤَمَّلُ لاِِحْياَّءِ الْكِتابِ وَحُدُودِهِ
Where is he who shall blot out dogma in the matter of religion and his (Muhammad’s) children? Where is he who shall break up meddlesome trouble and tampering? Where is he who shall pull down the foundations of confusion (polytheists) and hypocrisy? ayna mohyee ma-a’alemid deene wa ahlehi ayna qaasemo shawkatil moa’-tadeena ayna haademo abniyyatish shirke wan nefaaqe اَيْنَ مُحْيى مَعالِمِ الدّينِ وَاَهْلِهِ اَيْنَ قاصِمُ شَوْكَةِ الْمُعْتَدينَ اَيْنَ هادِمُ اَبْنِيَةِ الشِّرْكِ وَالنِّفاقِ
Where is he who shall stamp out corruption, vice, reaction and injustice? Where is he who shall trim the outgrowth of despair, longing and hardships? Where is he who shall erase the traces of unfairness and self-seeking conceit? ayna mobedo ahlil fosooqe wal i’syaane wat tugh-yaane ayna haasedo furoo-i’l ghayye wash sheqaaqe Ayna taameso aasaariz zayghe wal ahwaaa-e اَيْنَ مُبيدُ اَهْلِ الْفُسُوقِ وَالْعِصْيانِ وَالطُّغْيانِ اَيْنَ حاصِدُ فُرُوعِ الْغَىِّ وَالشِّقاقِ اَيْنَ طامِسُ آثارِ الزَّيْغِ وَالاَْهْواَّءِ
Where is he who shall untie the twisted knotes of falsehood and disruption? Where is he who shall separate senselessness and insolence from the people? Where is he who shall tear up by the roots obstinacy, corruption and apostasy? Where is he who shall love dearly the favourites of Allah and take pains to tame and train the trangressors? ayna qaate-o’ habaaa elil kizbe wal ifteraaa-e ayna mobeedul o’taate wal maradate ayna mustaa-selu ahlil e’naade wat tazleele wal ilhaade ayna mo-i’zzul awleyaaa-e wa mozillul aa’-daa-e اَيْنَ قاطِعُ حَباَّئِلِ الْكِذْبِ وَالاِْفْتِرآءِ اَيْنَ مُبيدُ الْعُتاةِ وَالْمَرَدَةِاَيْنَ مُسْتَاْصِلُ اَهْلِ الْعِنادِ وَالتَّضْليلِ وَالاِْلْحادِ اَيْنَ مُعِزُّ الاَْوْلِياَّءِ وَمُذِلُّ الاَْ عْداَّءِ
Where is he who shall make people familiar with “words of wisdom”? Where is the ultimate (Divine) source of plenty and prosperity? Where is the “Divine aspect” the God-fearing may look up to? ayna jaame-u’l kalemate a’lat taqwaa ayna baabullaahil lazee minho yoataa ayna wajhullaahil lazee elayhe yatawajjahul awleyaaa-o اَيْنَ جامِعُ الْكَلِمَةِ عَلَى التَّقْوى اَيْنَ بابُ اللَّهِ الَّذى مِنْهُ يُؤْتى اَيْنَ وَجْهُ اللَّهِ الَّذى اِلَيْهِ يَتَوَجَّهُ الاَْوْلِياَّءُ
Where is the link that connects the cosmic complex? Where is the authority who shall communicate and make known the true point of view? Where is the author of the conception of peace, fairplay and welfare? aynas sababul mutasselo baynal arze was samaaa-e ayna saahebo yawmil fathe wa naashero raayatil hodaa ayna mo-allefo shamlis salaahe war rezaa اَيْنَ السَّبَبُ الْمُتَّصِلُ بَيْنَ الاَْرْضِ وَالسَّماَّءِ اَيْنَ صاحِبُ يَوْمِ الْفَتْحِ وَناشِرُ رايَةِ الْهُدى اَيْنَ مُؤَلِّفُ شَمْلِ الصَّلاحِ وَالرِّضا
Where is the defender of the traditions of the Prophets and their children? Where is the investigator of the blood of the Martyrs of Karbalaa? aynat taalebo be-zohoolil ambeyaaa-e wa abnaaa-il ambeyaaa-e aynat taalebo be-damil maqtoole be-karbalaa-a اَيْنَ الطّالِبُ بِذُحُولِ الاَْنْبِياَّءِ وَاَبْناَّءِ الاَْنْبِياَّءِ اَيْنَ الطّالِبُ بِدَمِ الْمَقْتُولِ بِكَرْبَلا ءَ
Where is he who shall get the upper hand over the perpetrators of crime and greed? Where is he who shall not rest until he answers the cries of help when called upon? Where is the foremost leader of the people – the just, the truthful and the wise? Where is the son of the chosen Prophet? aynal mansooro a’laa manea’-tadaa a’layhe waf-taraa aynal muztarrul lazee yojaabo ezaa da-a’a ayna sadrul khalaaa-eqe zul birre wat taqwaa aynabnun nabiyyenil mustafaa اَيْنَ الْمَنْصُورُ عَلى مَنِ اعْتَدى عَلَيْهِ وَافْتَرى اَيْنَ الْمُضْطَرُّ الَّذى يُجابُ اِذا دَعى اَيْنَ صَدْرُ الْخَلائِقِ ذُوالْبِرِّ وَالتَّقْوى اَيْنَ ابْنُ النَّبِىِّ الْمُصْطَفى
The son of Ali Al-Murtaza! The son of Khadeejah, the resplendent! The son of Faatimah, the great! My father, my mother, and I turn to you for protection and sanctuary. wabno a’liyyenil murta-zaa wabno khadeejatal gharraaa-e wabno faatematal kubraa be-abee anta wa ummee wa nafsee lakal weqaaa-o wal hemaa وَابْنُ عَلِي الْمُرْتَضى وَابْنُ خَديجَةَ الْغَرّاَّءِ وَابْنُ فاطِمَةَ الْكُبْرى بِاَبى اَنْتَ وَاُمّى وَنَفْسى لَكَ الْوِقاَّءُ وَالْحِمى
O son of the favourite Leaders! O Son of the distinguished nobles! O son of the rightly guided Guides! O Son of the most refined high-minded liberals! Yabnas saadatil moqarrabeena yabnan nojabaaa-il akrameena yabnal hodaatil mahdiyyeena yabnal khiyaratil mohazzabeena يَا بْنَ السّادَةِ الْمُقَرَّبينَ يَا بْنَ النُّجَباَّءِ الاَْكْرَمينَ يَا بْنَ الْهُداةِ الْمَهْدِيّينَ يَا بْنَ الْخِيَرَةِ الْمُهَذَّبينَ
O Son of the select generous Guardians! O son of the polite and pure purifiers! O Son of the impartial judges! O Son of the openhanded hosts! yabnal ghataarefatil anjabeena yabnal ataa-ebil motahhareena yabnal khazaarematil muntajabeena yabnal qamaaqematil akrameena يَا بْنَ الْغَطارِفَةِ الاَْنْجَبينَ يَا بْنَ الاَْطاَّئِبِ الْمُطَهَّرينَ يَا بْنَ الْخَضارِمَةِ الْمُنْتَجَبينَ يَا بْنَ الْقَماقِمَةِ الاَْكْرَمينَ
O Son of the mature teachers! O Son of the brilliant fulfillers! O Son of the clear and precise arguments who penetrated deep (into the domain of mind)! O inheritor of the made known prophesy! yabnal bodooril moneerate yabnas sorojil mozeee-ate yabnash shohobis saaqebate yabnal anjomiz zaaherate يَا بْنَ الْبُدُورِ الْمُنيرَةِ يَا بْنَ السُّرُجِ الْمُضَّيئَةِ يَا بْنَ الشُّهُبِ الثّاقِبَةِ يَا بْنَ الاَْنْجُمِ الزّاهِرَةِ
O inheritor of the clear preaching! O inheritor of the evident signs! O inheritor of the exact science! O inheritor of the widely sought after culture and customs! yabnas sobolil waazihate yabnal aa’-laamil laa-ehate yabnal o’loomil kaamelate yabnas sonanil mash-hoorate يَا بْنَ السُّبُلِ الْواضِحَةِ يَا بْنَ الاَْعْلامِ الّلا ئِحَةِ يَا بْن َالْعُلُومِ الْكامِلَةِ يَا بْنَ السُّنَنِ الْمَشْهُورَةِ
O inheritor of the milestones of glory and greatness! O inheritor of the extraordinary events! O inheritor of the reason that had been put to experiment! O inheritor of the Right Path! yabnal ma-a’alemil maasoorate yabnal moa’-jezaatil mawjoodate yabnal dalaaa-elil mash-hoodate yabnas seraatil mustaqeeme يَا بْنَ الْمَعالِمِ الْمَاءثُورَةِ يَا بْنَ الْمُعْجِزاتِ الْمَوْجُودَةِ يَا بْنَ الدَّلاَّئِلِ الْمَشْهُودَةِ يَا بْنَ الصِّراطِ الْمُسْتَقيمِ
O inheritor of the Message that made deep impression on mankind! O Son of him who is in the “Mother of the Book” kept with Allah, the Highest High, the All-wise. yabnan naba-il a’zeeme yabna man howa fee ummil ketaabe ladallaahe a’liyyun hakeemun يَا بْنَ النَّبَاءِ الْعَظيمِ يَا بْنَ مَنْ هُوَ فى اُمِّ الْكِتابِ لَدَى اللَّهِ عَلِىُّ حَكيمٌ
O inheritor of the convincing proofs! O inheritor of the genuine evidence! O inheritor of the distinctly visible demonstration! O inheritor of the decisive information! yabnal aayaate wal bayyenaate yabnad dalaaa-eliz zaaheraate yabnal baraaheenil waazehaatil baaheraate yabnal hojajil baaleghaate يَا بْنَ الاْياتِ وَالْبَيِّناتِ يَا بْنَ الدَّلاَّئِلِ الظّاهِراتِ يَا بْنَ الْبَراهينِ الْواضِحاتِ الْباهِراتِ يَا بْنَ الْحُجَجِ الْبالِغاتِ
O inheritor of the absolute joy and happiness! O inheritor of “T’aa-haa” and clear wisdom! O inheritor of “Yaa seen” and “Zaariyaat” O inheritor of “T’oor” and “A’adiyaat” O Son of him who “drew near and came down till he was two bows’ length or nearer.”(The Highest High came near and received him gladly). yabnan ne-a’mis saabeghaate yabna taa-haa wal mohkamaate yabna yaa-seen waz zaareyaate yabnat toore wal a’adeyaate yabna man danaa fatadallaa fakaana qaaba qawsayne aw adnaa donuwwan waqteraaban menal a’liyyil aa’-laa يَا بْنَ النِّعَمِ السّابِغاتِ يَا بْنَ طه وَالْمُحْكَماتِ يَا بْنَ يسَّ وَالذّارِياتِ يَا بْنَ الطُّورِ وَالْعادِياتِ يَا بْنَ مَنْ دَنى فَتَدَلّى فَكانَ قابَ قَوْسَيْنِ اَوْ اَدْنى دُنُوّاً وَاقْتِراباً مِنَ الْعَلِىِّ الاَْعْلى
If I but knew the destination of your purposeful journey! To which isolated land did you go? Good, pleasant and satisfying? Or otherwise? Or in well guarded concealment? Layta shea’ree aynas taqarrat bekan nawaa bal ayyo arzin toqilloka aw saraa a-be razwaa aw ghayrehaa am zee towaa لَيْتَ شِعْرى اَيْنَ اسْتَقَرَّتْ بِكَ النَّوى بَلْ اَىُّ اَرْضٍ تُقِلُّكَ اَوْ ثَرى اَبِرَضْوى اَوْ غَيْرِها اَمْ ذى طُوى
It breaks my heart (when) I look at all that has been created, but cannot see you, nor hear a whisper about your whereabouts, nor any secret communication! a’zeezun a’layya an aral khalqa wa laa toraa wa laa asma-o’ laka haseesan wa laa najwaa عَزيزٌ عَلَىَّ اَنْ اَرَى الْخَلْقَ وَلا تُرى وَلا اَسْمَعُ لَكَ حَسيساً وَلا نَجْوى
It is disheartening to know that you are attending to and watching over the disorder and confusion, and I, in the thick of violent turmoil, am far away, unable to give report of injustice. a’zeezun a’layya an toheeta beka doonayil balwaa wa laa yanaaloka minnee zajeejun wa laa shakwaa عَزيزٌ عَلَىَّ اَنْ تُحيطَ بِكَ دُونِىَ الْبَلْوى وَلا يَنالُكَ مِنّى ضَجيجٌ وَلا شَكْوى
I eagerly long for you who is out of sight, but has not forsaken us. I eagerly long for you who has departed and is invisible, but is not far from us be-nafsee anta min moghayyabin lam yakh-lo minnaa be-nafsee anta min naazehin maa nazaha a’nnaa بِنَفْسى اَنْتَمِنْ مُغَيَّبٍ لَمْ يَخْلُ مِنّا بِنَفْسى اَنْتَ مِنْ نازِحٍ ما نَزَحَ عَنّا
I eagerly long for you who inspires love and deep affection, and the faithful men and women take delight in your memorable glory. So we are excited with a longing desire. be-nafsee anta umniyyato shaa-eqin yatamannaa min mominin wa mominatin zikaraa fa-hannaa بِنَفْسى اَنْتَ اُمْنِيَّةُ شائِقٍ يَتَمَنّى مِنْ مُؤْمِنٍ وَمُؤْمِنَةٍ ذَكَرا فَحَنّا
I eagerly long for you who is worthy of acceptance and lawful driving force of belief and conviction, never weary or annoyed. be-nafsee anta min a’qeede izzin laa yosaamaa بِنَفْسى اَنْتَ مِنْ عَقيدِ عِزٍّ لايُسامى
I eagerly long for you who is the root of praise and distinction, never can be uprooted. be-nafsee anta min aseele majdin laa yojaaraa بِنَفْسى اَنْتَ مِنْ اَثيلِ مَجْدٍلا يُجارى
I eagerly long for you who is always tender, gentle and comforting, never makes one’s affairs worse instead of better. be-nafsee anta min telaade ne-a’min laa tozaahaa بِنَفْسى اَنْتَ مِنْ تِلادِ نِعَمٍ لا تُضاهى
I eagerly long for you who is just and equitable beyond a trace of doubt, does not take severe action until misbehaviour trespasses the limit. be-nafsee anta min naseefe sharafin laa yosaawaa بِنَفْسى اَنْتَ مِنْ نَصيفِ شَرَفٍ لا يُساوى
O Master! How long and unto what is to be directed (my) request for friendly attention concerning you? elaa mataa a-haaro feeka yaa mawlaaya اِلى مَتى اَحارُ فيكَ يا مَوْلاىَ
And what is the message? It makes me sad to get favourable reply from anyone other than you, but to be duped and cheated in the end. wa elaa mataa wa ayya khetaabin asefo feeka wa ayya najwaa a’zeezun a’layya an ojaaba doonaka wa onaaghaa وَاِلى مَتى وَاَىَّ خِطابٍ اَصِفُ فيكَ وَاَىَّ نَجْوى عَزيزٌ عَلَىَّ اَنْ اُجابَ دُونَكَ وَاُناغى
It casts a gloom upon me that you suffered hardships and the chicken hearted deserters left you alone. azeezun a’layya an abkeyaka wa yakhzolakal waraa عَزيزٌ عَلَىَّ اَنْ اَبْكِيَكَ وَيَخْذُلَكَ الْوَرى
It is painful for me what took place for you from them and that which had happened. Azeezun a’layya an yajreya a’layka doonahum maa jaraa عَزيزٌ عَلَىَّ اَنْ يَجْرِىَ عَلَيْكَ دُونَهُمْ ما جَرى
Is there a helper with whom I may cooperate and take pains? hal min mo-e’enin fa-oteela ma-a’hul a’weela wal bokaaa-a هَلْ مِنْ مُعينٍ فَاُطيلَ مَعَهُ الْعَويلَ وَالْبُكاَّءَ
Is there a restless with whom I may share when action is taken? hal min jazoo-i’n a-osaa-e’da jaza-a’hu ezaa khalaa هَلْ مِنْ جَزُوعٍ فَاُساعِدَ جَزَعَهُ اِذا خَلا
Is there a faint twinkle of evidence to make me willingly take up the trouble? hal qazeyat a’ynun fasaa-a’dat-haa a’ynee a’lal qazaa هَلْ قَذِيَتْ عَيْنٌ فَساعَدَتْها عَيْنى عَلَى الْقَذى
Do you O Son of Ahmed have means and ways to arrange our meeting? hal elayka yabna ahmada sabeelun fatulqaa هَلْ اِلَيْكَ يَا بْنَ اَحْمَدَ سَبيلٌ فَتُلْقى
Can you once cleverly guide the course of time, so that we may obtain our wish? hal yattaselo yawmonaa minka be-e’datin fa-nahzaa هَلْ يَتَّصِلُ يَوْمُنا مِنْكَ بِعِدَةٍ فَنَحْظى
When shall we abridge the gap that separate us from the vision so that we may refer to the authority? mataa naredomanaahelakar rawiyyata fa-narwaa مَتى نَرِدُ مَنا هِلَكَ الرَّوِيَّةَ فَنَرْوى
How long shall we keep waiting for your pleasing satisfying essence and quality? Already the period of expectation has lasted too long! mataa nantaqe-o’ min a’zbe maaa-eka faqad taalas sadaa مَتى نَنْتَقِعُ مِنْ عَذْبِ ماَّئِكَ فَقَدْ طالَ الصَّدى
When shall we receive our share from you and have our minds set at rest? For we have fixed our eyes upon you and strive with perseverance. mataa noghaadeeka wa noraa-wehoka fa-noqirro a’ynan مَتى نُغاديكَ وَنُراوِحُكَ فَنُقِرَّ عَيْناً
When shall we be happy, and see your beautiful form and fine aspect? mataa taraanaa wa naraaka مَتى تَرانا وَنَريكَ
Groups of cheerful willing disciplined helpers, in great numbers, gathering around you to carry out one work after the other! You fulfilling (every promise) and giving joy, heart and confidence (to the faithfuls); filling the earth with justice; wa qad nasharta lewaaa-an nasre toraa a-taraanaa nahuffo beka wa anta ta-ummul mala-awa qad malaa-tal arza a’dlan وَقَدْ نَشَرْتَ لِواَّءَ النَّصْرِ تُرى اَتَر انا نَحُفُّ بِكَ وَاَنْتَ تَاُمُّالْمَلاََ وَقَدْ مَلاَْتَ الاَْرْضَ عَدْلاً
making your enemies follow the law and accept the revolution; taking the wind out of the haughty and the boastful, and those who knew but denied the truth; wa azaqta aa’-daaa-eka hawaanan wa e’qaaban wa abartal o’taata wa jahadatal haqqe وَاَذَقْتَ اَعْداَّئَكَ هَواناً وَعِقاباً وَاَبَرْتَ الْعُتاةَ وَجَحَدَةَ الْحَقِّ
breaking the back of the proud and the arrogant; uprooting the roots of the unjust; wa qata’-ta daaberal motakabbereena waj-tasasta osoolaz zaalemeena وَقَطَعْتَ دابِرَ الْمُتَكَبِّرينَ وَاجْتَثَثْتَ اُصُولَ الظّالِمينَ
and we-singing the praise of Allah, the Lord of the worlds. wa nahno naqoolo al-hamdo lillaahe rabbil a’alameena وَنَحْنُ نَقُولُ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعالَمينَ
O my Allah! Thou disperses the clouds of sorrows and hardships. Unto Thee we turn to ask for help against the enemy; for Thou (alone) helps and guides. Thou (alone) puts into good order affairs of this world and shall make better the Hereafter. allaahumma anta kashshaaful kurbi wal balwaa wa elayka asta’-dee fa-i’ndakal a’dwaa wa anta rabbul aakherate wad dunyaa اَللّهُمَّ اَنْتَ كَشّافُْ الكُرَبِ وَالْبَلْوى وَاِلَيْكَ اَسْتَعْدى فَعِنْدَكَ الْعَدْوى وَاَنْتَ رَبّ ُالاْخِرَةِ وَالدُّنْيا [الاْوُلى ]
So come to help! O He Who is called to help the helpless, Thy servants, surrounded by calamities. Fa-aghith yaa gheyaasal mustagheeseena o’baydakal mubtalaa فَاَغِثْ يا غِياثَ الْمُسْتَغيثينَ عُبَيْدَكَ الْمُبْتَلى
Show them the face of their Leader. O the Mightiest Almighty. wa arehee sayyedahu yaa shadeedal qowaa وَاَرِهِ سَيِّدَهُ يا شَديدَ الْقُوى
Allow him to put an end to evil and corruption, and satisfy his Love (for the faithfuls) and dislike (for the sinners). wa azil a’nho behil asaa wal jawaa wa barrid ghaleelahu وَاَزِلْ عَنْهُ بِهِ الاَْسى وَالْجَوى وَبَرِّدْ غَليلَهُ
O He Who, from the “Arsh directs and controls all creation, and unto Him is the return, final and ultimate yaa man a’lal a’rshis-tawaa wa man elayhir ruj-a’a wal muntahaa يا مَنْ عَلَى الْعَرْشِ اسْتَوى وَمَنْ اِلَيْهِ الرُّجْعى وَالْمُنْتَهى
O my Allah! We are Thy servants, longing for Thy friend (appointed authority), who reminds us of Thee, and Thy Prophet, allaahumma wa nahno a’beedokat taaa-eqoona elaa waliyyekal mozakkere beka wa be-nabiyyeka اَللّهُمَّ وَنَحْنُ عَبيدُكَ التّاَّئِقُونَ اِلى وَلِيِّكَ الْمُذَكِّرِ بِكَ وَبِنَبِيِّكَ
who was created as a refuge and asylum for us, established as a foundation and spring of truthfulness for us, khalaqtahu lanaa i’smatan wa malaazaa wa aqamtahoo lanaa qewaaman wa ma-a’azan خَلَقْتَهُ لَنا عِصْمَةً وَمَلاذاً وَاَقَمْتَهُ لَنا قِواماً وَمَعاذاً
and was made the Leader-Guide of the faithfuls. Convey to him our heartfelt congratulations and welcome. wa ja-a’ltahu lil momineena minnaa emaaman fa-ballighho minnaa tahiyyatan wa salaaman وَجَعَلْتَهُ لِلْمُؤْمِنينَ مِنّا اِماماً فَبَلِّغْهُ مِنّا تَحِيَّةً وَسَلاماً
Make us feel more deeply for him. O Lord! Very Kindly, make his headquarters our place of domicile and dwelling abode wa zidnaa be zaaleka yaa rabbe ikraaman waj-a’l mustaqarrahu lanaa mustaqarran wa moqaaman وَزِدْنابِذلِكَ يارَبِّ اِكْراماً وَاجْعَلْ مُسْتَقَرَّهُ لَنا مُسْتَقَرّاً وَمُقاماً
and fulfill Thy promise by returning him to us as our Leader Guide, wa atmim nea’-mataka be-taqdeemeka iyyaaho amaamanaa وَاَتْمِمْ نِعْمَتَكَ بِتَقْديمِكَ اِيّاهُ اَمامَنا
so that he takes us to the eternal land of peace and bliss, where we shall rub elbows with Thy sincere servants who shed blood to pronounce the Faith. hattaa tooredanaa jenaanaka wa moraafaqatash sho-hadaaa-e min kholasaaa-eka حَتّى تُورِدَنا جَنانَكَ وَمُرافَقَةَ الشُّهَداَّءِ مِنْ خُلَصاَّئِكَ
O Allah send Thy blessings on Muhammad and on the children of Muhammad. Bless his ancestor Muhammad, the Messenger, the foremost Leader, allaahumma salle a’laa mohammadin wa aale mohammadin wa salle a’laa mohammadin jaddehi wa rasoolekas sayyedil akbare اَللّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلى مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَصَلِّ عَلى مُحَمَّدٍ جَدِّهِ وَرَسُولِكَ السَّيِّدِالاَكْبَرِ
and bless his progenitor, the succeeding Leader, and his great grandmother, the ever truthful, Faatimah daughter of Muhammad, wa a’laa abeehis sayyedil asghare wa jaddatehis siddeeqatil kubraa faatemata binte mohammadin وَعَلى [عَلِي ]اَبيهِ السَّيِّدِ الاَصْغَرِ وَجَدَّتِهِ الصِّدّيقَةِ الْكُبْرى فاطِمَةَ بِنْتِ مُحَمَّدٍ
and his chosen virtuous forefathers, and send blessings on him, superior, whole, conclusive, staying, numerous, and full, not ever bestowed (even) on any of Thy sincerely attached and pious friends from among Thy creation. wa a’laa manis tafayta min aabaaa-ehil bararate wa a’layhe afzala wa akmala wa atamma wa adwama wa aksara wa awfara maa sallayta a’laa ahadin min asfeyaaa-eka wa kheyarateka min khalqeka وَعَلى مَنِ اصْطَفَيْتَ مِنْ آباَّئِهِ الْبَرَرَةِ وَعَلَيْهِ اَفْضَلَ وَاَكْمَلَ وَاَتَمَّ وَاَدْوَمَ وَاَكْثَرَ وَاَوْفَرَ ما صَلَّيْتَ عَلى اَحَدٍ مِنْ اَصْفِياَّئِكَ وَخِيَرَتِكَ مِنْ خَلْقِكَ
Bless him with blessings, (that) cannot be counted in numbers, cannot be “proximated” in space of time, cannot be consumed in terms of having nothing remaining. wa salle a’layhe salaatan laa ghaayata le-a’dadehaa wa laa nehaayata le-madadehaa wa laa nafaada le-amadehaa وَصَلِّ عَلَيْهِ صَلوةً لاغايَةَ لِعَدَدِها وَلانِهايَةَ لِمَدَدِها وَلا نَفادَ لاَِمَدِها
O my Allah! Set up truth, destroy falsehood, show the right path to Thy friends, humiliate Thy enemies, and do it without interruption, (through him). O my Allah! Unite us with him. allaahumma wa aqim behil haqqa wa adhiz behil baatela wa adil behee awleyaaa-aka wa azlil behee aa’-daaa-aka wa selillaahumma baynanaa wa baynahu اَللّهُمَّ وَاَقِمْ بِهِ الْحَقَّ وَاَدْحِضْ بِهِ الْباطِلَ وَاَدِلْ بِهِ اَوْلِياَّئَكَ وَاَذْلِلْ بِهِ اَعْداَّئَكَ وَصِلِ اللّهُمَّ بَيْنَنا وَبَيْنَهُ
Let us be friends with his ancestors. Give us courage to disperse those who oppose and try to prevent him, and make them stay in their shame and disgrace for ever. wuslatan to-addee elaa moraafaqate salafehee waj-a’lnaa mimman yaa-khozo be-hujzatehim wa yamkoso fee zillehim وُصْلَةً تُؤَدّى اِلى مُرافَقَةِ سَلَفِهِ وَاجْعَلْنا مِمَّنْ يَاْخُذُ بِحُجْزَتِهِمْ وَيَمْكُثُ فى ظِلِّهِمْ
Help us to discharge the duties made incumbent upon us by him, and make every effort to obey him, keep from that which is declared unlawful by him, rely upon him to get his approval. wa a-i’nnaa a’laa taa-deyate hoqooqehi elayhe wal ijtehaade fee taa-a’tehi wajtenaabe ma’-seyatehi wam-nun a’laynaa be-rezaaho وَاَعِنّا عَلى تَاْدِيَةِ حُقُوقِهِ اِلَيْهِ وَالاِْجْتِهادِ فى طاعَتِهِ وَاجْتِنابِ مَعْصِيَتِهِ وَامْنُنْ عَلَيْنا بِرِضاهُ
Let us be with him when he makes peace, and frees mankind from fear, gives currency to love are kindness, brings bliss and happiness, spreads good and virtue, so that we may do our best to promote his cause through Thy mercy, and win victory for Thee wa hab lanaa raa-fatahu wa rahmatahu wa do-a’aa-ahu wa khayrahu maa nanaalo behee sa-a’tan min rahmateka wa fawzan i’ndaka وَهَبْ لَنا رَأْفَتَهُ وَرَحْمَتَهُ وَدُعاَّئَهُ وَخَيْرَهُ مانَنالُ بِهِ سَعَةً مِنْ رَحْمَتِكَ وَفَوْزاً عِنْدَكَ
Accept our prayers, forgive our sins, fulfil our desires, give us means of livelihood, unrestricted, make less our hardships, meet our demands in full (through him). waj-a’l salaatanaa behee maqboolatan wa zonoobanaa behi maghfooratan waj-a’l arzaaqanaa behi mabsootatan wa homoomanaa behi makfiyyatan wa hawaaa-ejanaa behi maqziyyatan وَاجْعَلْ صَلوتَنا بِهِ مَقبُولَةً وَذُنُوبَنا بِهِ مَغْفُورَةً وَدُعاَّئَنا بِهِ مُسْتَجاباً وَاجْعَلْ اَرْزاقَنا بِهِ مَبْسُوطَةً وَهُمُومَنا بِهِ مَكْفِيَّةً وَحَواَّئِجَنابِهِ مَقْضِيَّةً
Turn towards us Thy kindness and loving aspects, and bring us close to Thee. wa aqbil elaynaa be-wajhekal kareeme waq-bal taqarrobanaa elayka وَاَقْبِلْ اِلَيْنا بِوَجْهِكَ الْكَريمِ وَاقْبَلْ تَقَرُّبَنا اِلَيْكَ
Turn the eyes of Thy mercy upon us, to bring to fullness Thy kind favours, and after that do not ever let them disappear in the name of Thy generosity, wan-zur elaynaa nazratan raheematan nastakmelo behal karaamata i’ndaka summa laa tasrif-haa a’nnaa be-joodeka وَانْظُرْ اِلَيْنا نَظْرَةً رَحيمَةً نَسْتَكْمِلُ بِهَا الْكَرامَةَ عِنْدَكَ ثُمَّ لا تَصْرِفْها عَنّا بِجُودِكَ
and give us the opportunity to quench our thirst from the spring of his great grandfather (Kawsar), (blessing of Allah be on him and on his children), was-qenaa min hawze jaddehi sallallaaho a’layhe wa aalehi وَاسْقِنا مِنْ حَوْضِ جَدِّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ
using his cup, filled by him, fresh and pure, sufficient, wholesome, clear and cool, not leaving any desire thereafter, bekaa-sehi wa be-yadehi rayyan rawiyyan hanee-an saaa-eghan laa zama-a ba’-dahu بِكَاْسِهِ وَبِيَدِهِ رَيّاً رَوِيّاً هَنيئاً ساَّئِغاً لا ظَمَاَ بَعْدَهُ

بسم الله الرحمن الرحیم
in the name of God
اَلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلْعَالَمِين
All praise be to Allah the Lord of the worlds.
وَصَلَّىٰ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ سَيِّدِنَا مُحَمَّدٍ نَبِيِّهِ
May Allah send blessings upon our master Mu¦ammad His Prophet
وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ تَسْلِيماً
and upon his Household and may He salute them with thorough salutation.
اَللَّهُمَّ لَكَ ٱلْحَمْدُ
O Allah, all praise be to You
عَلَىٰ مَا جَرَىٰ بِهِ قَضَاؤُكَ
for Your decree that has been applied
فِي اوْلِيَائِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱسْتَخْلَصْتَهُمْ لِنَفْسِكَ وَدِينِكَ
to Your vicegerents whom You have purely selected for Yourself and Your religion;
إِِذِ ٱخْتَرْتَ لَهُمْ جَزِيلَ مَا عِنْدَكَ
as You have chosen for them the abundance of what You have in possession;
مِنَ ٱلنَّعِيمِ ٱلْمُقِيمِ
that is the enduring pleasure
ٱلَّذِي لاََ زَوَالَ لَهُ وَلاَ ٱضْمِحْلاَلَ
that neither vanishes nor diminishes,
بَعْدَ انْ شَرَطْتَ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلزُّهْدَ
after You had already stipulated on them to renounce
فِي دَرَجَاتِ هٰذِهِ ٱلدُّنْيَا ٱلدَّنِيَّةِ
all the ranks of this lowly world
وَزُخْرُفِهَا وَزِبْرِجِهَا
along with all of its embellishments and ornaments,
فَشَرَطُوٱ لَكَ ذٰلِكَ
and they accepted this stipulation.
وَعَلِمْتَ مِنْهُمُ ٱلْوَفَاءَ بِهِ
As You knew that they would fulfill this stipulation,
فَقَبِلْتَهُمْ وَقَرَّبْتَهُمْ
You accepted and drew them near to You.
وَقَدَّمْتَ لَهُمُ ٱلذِّكْرَ ٱلْعَلِيَّ
You thus provided them with sublime mention
وَٱلثَّنَاءَ ٱلْجَلِيَّ
and obvious approval,
وَاهْبَطْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ مَلاَئِكَتَكَ
made Your angels descend to them,
وَكَرَّمْتَهُمْ بِوَحْيِكَ
honored them with Your revelations,
وَرَفَدْتَهُمْ بِعِلْمِكَ
supported them with Your knowledge,
وَجَعَلْتَهُمُ ٱلذَّرِيعَةَ إِِلَيْكَ
and made them the channel to You
وَٱلْوَسِيلَةَ إِلَىٰ رِضْوَانِكَ
and the means to winning Your pleasure.
فَبَعْضٌ اسْكَنْتَهُ جَنَّتَكَ
Therefore, You made some of them dwell in Your Garden
إِلَىٰ انْ اخْرَجْتَهُ مِنْهَا
until You decided to take him out of there.
وَبَعْضٌ حَمَلْتَهُ فِي فُلْكِكَ
You bore another one on in Your Ark
وَنَجَّيْتَهُ وَمَنْ آمَنَ مَعَهُ
and saved him and those who believed with him
مِنَ ٱلْهَلَكَةِ بِرَحْمَتِكَ
from perdition, out of Your mercy.
وَبَعْضٌ ٱتَّخَذْتَهُ لِنَفْسِكَ خَلِيلاًَ
You took another one as Your intimate friend
وَسَالَكَ لِسَانَ صِدْقٍ فِي ٱلآخِرِينَ فَاجَبْتَهُ
and when he asked You to leave behind him a truthful mention, You responded to him
وَجَعَلْتَ ذٰلِكَ عَلِيّاً
and made that (mention) to be eminent.
وَبَعْضٌ كَلَّمْتَهُ مِنْ شَجَرَةٍ تَكْلِيماً
You spoke to another one from a tree directly
وَجَعَلْتَ لَهُ مِنْ اخِيهِ رِدْءاً وَوَزِيراً
and decided his brother to be his protector and representative.
وَبَعْضٌ اوْلَدْتَهُ مِنْ غَيْرِ ابٍ
You made another one to be born without a father,
وَآتَيْتَهُ ٱلْبَيِّنَاتِ
gave him clear-cut proofs
وَايَّدْتَهُ بِرُوحِ ٱلْقُدُسِ
and aided him with the Sacred Spirit.
وَكُلٌّ شَرَعْتَ لَهُ شَرِيعَةً
For each of them, You gave a code of law,
وَنَهَجْتَ لَهُ مِنْهَاجاً
decided a certain course,
وَتَخَيَّرْتَ لَهُ اوْصِيَاءَ
and finely chose successors;
مُسْتَحْفِظاً بَعْدَ مُسْتَحْفِظٍ
well-trustworthy successors one after another,
مِنْ مُدَّةٍ إِلَىٰ مُدَّةٍ
each for a certain period,
إِِقَامَةً لِدِينِكَ
in purpose of establishing Your religion
وَحُجَّةً عَلَىٰ عِبَادِكَ
and acting as arguments against Your servants,
وَلِئَلاَّ يَزُولَ ٱلْحَقُّ عَنْ مَقَرِّهِ
so that the truth should never leave its position
وَيَغْلِبَ ٱلْبَاطِلُ عَلَىٰ اهْلِهِ
and the wrong should never overcome the people of the truth
وَلاَ يَقُولَ احَدٌ
and so that none should claim, saying,
لَوْ لاَ ارْسَلْتَ إِِلَيْنَا رَسُولاًَ مُنْذِراً
“If only You had sent to us a warning messenger
وَاقَمْتَ لَنَا عَلَماً هَادِياً
and established for us a guiding person,
فَنَتَّبِعَ آيَاتِكَ مِنْ قَبْلِ انْ نَذِلَّ وَنَخْزَىٰ
we should have followed Your signs before that we met humiliation and disgrace!”
إِلَىٰ انِ ٱنْتَهَيْتَ بِٱلامْرِ إِلَىٰ حَبِيبِكَ وَنَجِيبِكَ مُحَمَّدٍ
You then ended the matter with Your most-beloved and well-select one, Mu¦ammad,
صَلَّىٰ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ
may Allah bless him and his Household.
فَكَانَ كَمَا ٱنْتَجَبْتَهُ
He was—as exactly as You have chosen—
سَيِّدَ مَنْ خَلَقْتَهُ
the master of all those whom You created,
وَصَفْوَةَ مَنِ ٱصْطَفَيْتَهُ
the best of all those whom You selected,
وَافْضَلَ مَنِ ٱجْتَبَيْتَهُ
the most favorite of all those whom You pointed out,
وَاكْرَمَ مَنِ ٱعْتَمَدْتَهُ
and the noblest of all those on whom You decided.
قَدَّمْتَهُ عَلَىٰ انْبِيَائِكَ
So, You preferred him to Your prophets,
وَبَعَثْتَهُ إِِلَىٰ ٱلثَّقَلَيْنِ مِنْ عِبَادِكَ
sent him to the two dependents (men and jinn) from Your servants,
وَاوْطَاتَهُ مَشَارِقَكَ وَمَغَارِبَكَ
enabled him to tread on the east and the west of Your lands,
وَسَخَّرْتَ لَهُ ٱلْبُرَاقَ
made subservient to him the Bur¡q (the celestial sumpter),
وَعَرَجْتَ بِرُوْحِهِ إِلَىٰ سَمَائِكَ
raised his soul to Your heavens,
وَاوْدَعْتَهُ عِلْمَ مَا كَانَ
and entrusted with him the knowledge of whatever passed
وَمَا يَكُونُ إِِلَىٰ ٱنْقِضَاءِ خَلْقِكَ
and whatever shall come to pass up to the extinction of Your creatures.
ثُمَّ نَصَرْتَهُ بِٱلرُّعْبِ
You then granted him victory by means of horror
وَحَفَفْتَهُ بِجَبْرَئِيلَ وَمِيكَائِيلَ
ordered (Archangels) Gabriel and Michael
وَٱلْمُسَوِّمِينَ مِنْ مَلاَئِكَتِكَ
as well as the marked angels to surround him,
وَوَعَدْتَهُ انْ تُظْهِرَ دِينَهُ عَلَىٰ ٱلدِّينِ كُلِّهِ
and promised him to make his faith prevail all other faiths
وَلَوْ كَرِهَ ٱلْمُشْرِكُونَ
however much the polytheists may be averse.
وَذٰلِكَ بَعْدَ انْ بَوَّاتَهُ مُبَوَّا صِدْقٍ مِنْ اهْلِهِ
You did all that after You had settled him in an honest position among his people,
وَجَعَلْتَ لَهُ وَلَهُمْ اوَّلَ بَيْتٍ
made for him and them the first house
وُضِعَ لِلنَّاسِ لَلَّذي بِبَكَّةَ
ever located for the people; that is the house in Bakkah,
مُبَارَكاً وَهُدىًٰ لِلْعَالَمينَ
blessed and guidance for the worlds.
فِيهِ آيَاتٌ بَيِّنَاتٌ
In it, there are clear-cut proofs.
مَقَامُ إِِبْرَاهِيمَ
It is the standing-place of Abraham,
وَمَنْ دَخَلَهُ كَانَ آمِناً
and whoever enters it will be secured.
وَقُلْتَ «إِِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ ٱللَّهُ لِيُذْهِبَ عَنْكُمُ ٱلرِّجْسَ
You also said, “Allah only desires to keep away the uncleanness from you,
اهْلَ ٱلْبَيْتِ
O people of the House,
وَيُطَهِّرَكُمْ تَطْهِيراً.»
and to purify you a thorough purifying.”
ثُمَّ جَعَلْتَ اجْرَ مُحَمَّدٍ
You then decided the reward of Mu¦ammad,
صَلَوَاتُكَ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ
Your blessings be upon him and his Household,
مَوَدَّتَهُمْ فِي كِتَابِكَ
to be the love for them; as in Your Book
فَقُلْتَ «قُلْ لاََ اسْالُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ اجْراً
You said, “Say: I do not ask of you any reward for it
إِِلاَّ ٱلْمَوَدَّةَ فِي ٱلْقُرْبَىٰ.»
but love for my near relatives.”
وَقُلْتَ «مَا سَالْتُكُمْ مِنْ اجْرٍ فَهُوَ لَكُمْ.»
You also said, “Whatever reward I have asked of you, that is only for yourselves.”
وَقُلْتَ «مَا اسْالُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ اجْرٍ
You also said, “I do not ask you aught in return
إِلاَّ مَنْ شَاءَ انْ يَتَّخِذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِ سَبِيلاًَ.»
except that he who wills, may take the way to his Lord.”
فَكَانُوٱ هُمُ ٱلسَّبِيلَ إِِلَيْكَ
They (i.e. the Prophet’s Household) have therefore been the way to You
وَٱلْمَسْلَكَ إِلَىٰ رِضْوَانِكَ
and the course to Your pleasure.
فَلَمَّا ٱنْقَضَتْ ايَّامُهُ
When his (i.e. the Prophet) days passed,
اقَامَ وَلِيَّهُ عَلِيَّ بْنَ ابِي طَالِبٍ
he appointed as successor his vicegerent `Al¢ the son of Ab£-±¡lib,
صَلَوَاتُكَ عَلَيْهِمَا وَآلِهِمَا هَادِياً
Your blessings be upon both of them and their Household,
إِِذْ كَانَ هُوَ ٱلْمُنْذِرَ
because he (the Prophet) was the warner
وَلِكُلِّ قَوْمٍ هَادٍ
and `Al¢ was the guide for every people.
فَقَالَ وَٱلْمَلَا امَامَهُ:
So, he (the Prophet) said in the presence of the people,
”مَنْ كُنْتُ مَوْلاَهُ
“As for each one who has taken me as his master,
فَعَلِيٌّ مَوْلاَهُ
`Al¢ is now his master.
اَللَّهُمَّ وَالِ مَنْ وَالاَهُ
O Allah, guard any one who is loyal to `Al¢,
وَعَادِ مَنْ عَادَاهُ
be the enemy of any one who antagonizes him,
وَٱنْصُرْ مَنْ نَصَرَهُ
support any one who supports him,
وَٱخْذُلْ مَنْ خَذَلَهُ.“
and disappoint any one who disappoints him.”
وَقَالَ: ”مَنْ كُنْتُ انَا نَبِيَّهُ فَعَلِيٌّ امِيرُهُ.“
He also said, “As for any one who has considered me as his Prophet, `Al¢ is now his commander.”
وَقَالَ: ”انَا وَعَلِيٌّ مِنْ شَجَرَةٍ وَاحِدَةٍ
He also said, “`Al¢ and I are of the same tree,
وَسَائِرُ ٱلنَّاسِ مِنْ شَجَرٍ شَتَّىٰ.“
while all the other peoples are from various trees.”
وَاحَلَّهُ مَحَلَّ هَارُونَ مِنْ مُوسَىٰ
He endued him (i.e. `Al¢) with the position that (Prophet) Aaron had with regard to (Prophet) Moses,
فَقَالَ لَهُ: ”انْتَ مِنِّي بِمَنْزِلَةِ هَارُونَ مِنْ مُوسَىٰ
saying, “Your position to me is as same as Aaron’s position to Moses (in every thing)
إِلاَّ انَّهُ لاََ نَبِيَّ بَعْدِي.“
except that there shall be no prophet after me.”
وَزَوَّجَهُ ٱبْنَتَهُ سَيِّدَةَ نِسَاءِ ٱلْعَالَمِينَ
He gave him in marriage his daughter the doyenne of the women of the worlds.
وَاحَلَّ لَهُ مِنْ مَسْجِدِهِ مَا حَلَّ لَهُ
He allowed him (alone) to do whatever he himself is allowed to do in his Mosque.
وَسَدَّ ٱلابْوَابَ إِِلاَّ بَابَهُ
He closed all the doors (to the Mosque) except his (i.e. `Al¢) door.
ثُمَّ اوْدَعَهُ عِلْمَهُ وَحِكْمَتَهُ
He then entrusted with him his knowledge and his wisdom,
فَقَالَ: ”انَا مَدِينَةُ ٱلْعِلْمِ
saying, “I am the city of knowledge,
وَعَلِيٌّ بَابُهَا
and `Al¢ is its door.
فَمَنْ ارَادَ ٱلْمَدِينَةَ وَٱلْحِكْمَةَ
So, whoever wants this city and wisdom,
فَلْيَاتِهَا مِنْ بَابِهَا.“
must come to it from its door.”
ثُمَّ قَالَ: ”انْتَ اخِي وَوَصِيِّي وَوَارِثِي
He then said (to `Al¢), “You are my brother, successor, and inheritor.
لَحْمُكَ مِنْ لَحْمِي
Your flesh is part of my flesh,
وَدَمُكَ مِنْ دَمِي
your blood is part of my blood,
وَسِلْمُكَ سِلْمِي
your peace is my peace,
وَحَرْبُكَ حَرْبِي
your war is my war,
وَٱلإِيـمَانُ مُخَالِطٌ لَحْمَكَ وَدَمَكَ
and faith is mixed with your flesh and blood
كَمَا خَالَطَ لَحْمِي وَدَمِي
as same as it is mixed with my flesh and blood.
وَانْتَ غَداً عَلَىٰ الْحَوْضِ خَلِيفَتِي
On the morrow, you shall be my vicegerent on the (Divine) Pond.
وَانْتَ تَقْضِي دَيْنِي
You also settle my debts
وَتُنْجِزُ عِدَاتِي
and fulfill my commitments.
وَشِيعَتُكَ عَلَىٰ مَنَابِرَ مِنْ نُورٍ
Your Sh¢`ah (i.e. adherents) shall be on pulpits of light,
مُبْيَضَّةً وُجُوهُهُمْ حَوْلِي فِي ٱلْجَنَّةِ
white-faced, around me in Paradise.
وَهُمْ جِيرَانِي
They are my neighbors (therein).
وَلَوْلاَ انْتَ يَا عَلِيُّ
Were it not for you `Al¢,
لَمْ يُعْرَفِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ بَعْدِي.“
true believers would not be recognized after me.”
وَكَانَ بَعْدَهُ هُدىٰ مِنَ ٱلضَّلاَلِ
Hence, he (i.e. `Al¢), after the Prophet, was true guidance against straying off,
وَنُوراً مِنَ ٱلْعَمَىٰ
light against blindness,
وَحَبْلَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمَتِينَ
the firmest rope of Allah,
وَصِرَاطَهُ ٱلْمُسْتَقِيمَ
and His straight path.
لاََ يُسْبَقُ بِقَرَابَةٍ فِي رَحِمٍ
l¡ yusbaqu biqar¡batin f¢ ra¦imin
None would precede him in blood relation (with the Prophet)
وَلاَ بِسَابِقَةٍ فِي دِينٍ
or any priority in a religious affair,
وَلاَ يُلْحَقُ فِي مَنْقَبَةٍ مِنْ مَنَاقِبِهِ
and none would ever match him in any item of virtue.
يَحْذُو حَذْوَ ٱلرَّسُولِ
He patterned after the Messenger,
صَلَّىٰ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمَا وَآلِهِمَا
may Allah’s blessings be upon both of them and their Household.
وَيُقَاتِلُ عَلَىٰ ٱلتَّاوِيلِ
He fought for the sake of true interpretation (of the Qur’¡n).
وَلاَ تَاخُذُهُ فِي ٱللَّهِ لَوْمَةُ لاَئِمٍ
The blame of any blamer would never stop him from doing anything for the sake of Allah.
قَدْ وَتَرَ فِيهِ صَنَادِيدَ ٱلْعَرَبِ
He thus exterminated the villains of the Arabs,
وَقَتَلَ ابْطَالَهُمْ
killed their heroes,
وَنَاوَشَ ذُؤْبَانَهُمْ
and eradicated their ferocious fighters.
فَاوْدَعَ قُلُوبَهُمْ احْقَاداً
He therefore filled in their hearts with malice
بَدْرِيَّةً وَخَيْبَرِيَّةً وَحُنَيْنِيَّةً وَغَيْرَهُنَّ
from the battles of Badr, Khaybar, and °unayn as well as others.
فَاضَبَّتْ عَلَىٰ عَدَاوَتِهِ
Therefore, they clang inseparably to opposing him
وَاكَبَّتْ عَلَىٰ مُنَابَذَتِهِ
and attached upon dissenting him
حَتَّىٰ قَتَلَ ٱلنَّاكِثِينَ وَٱلْقَاسِطِينَ وَٱلْمَارِقِينَ
until he had to kill the preachers, the unjust, and the apostates.
وَلَمَّا قَضَىٰ نَحْبَهُ
When he passed away
وَقَتَلَهُ اشْقَىٰ ٱلآخِرِينَ يَتْبَعُ اشْقَىٰ ٱلاوَّلِينَ
and he was killed by the most miserable of all of the late generations who will be attached to the most miserable of the past generations,
لَمْ يُمْتَثَلْ امْرُ رَسُولِ ٱللَّهِ
the decree of Allah’s Messenger,
صَلَّىٰ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ
may Allah bless him and his Household,
فِي ٱلْهَادِينَ بَعْدَ ٱلْهَادِينَ
about the leadership of the successive guiding ones was not carried out;
وَٱلامَّةُ مُصِرَّةٌ عَلَىٰ مَقْتِهِ
rather, the people insisted on detesting him
مُجْتَمِعَةٌ عَلَىٰ قَطِيعَةِ رَحِمِهِ
and agreed unanimously on rupturing their relations with him
وَإِِقْصَاءِ وُلْدِهِ
and moving away his descendants (from leadership),
إِِلاَّ ٱلْقَلِيلَ مِمَّنْ وَفَىٰ لِرِعَايَةِ ٱلْحَقِّ فِيهِمْ
except for a few ones who fulfilled the duty of observing their rights.
فَقُتِلَ مَنْ قُتِلَ
Many (of `Al¢’s descendants) were therefore slain,
وَسُبِيَ مَنْ سُبِيَ
many others were taken as captives,
وَاقْصِيَ مَنْ اقْصِيَ
and many others were banished.
وَجَرَىٰ ٱلْقَضَاءُ لَهُمْ
Decrees were thus applied to them
بِمَا يُرْجَىٰ لَهُ حُسْنُ ٱلْمَثُوبَةِ
in a form expected to grant them excellent reward for that.
إِِذْ كَانَتِ ٱلارْضُ لِلَّهِ
Verily, the earth is Allah’s;
يُورِثُهَا مَنْ يَشَاءُ مِنْ عِبَادِهِ
He gives it in inheritance to whomever of His servants that He wishes;
وَٱلْعَاقِبَةُ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ
and the end result shall be for the pious.
َسُبْحَانَ رَبِّنَا
All glory be to our Lord.
إِِنْ كَانَ وَعْدُ رَبِّنَا لَمَفْعُولاًَ
Most certainly, the promise of our Lord shall come to pass.
وَلَنْ يُخْلِفَ ٱللَّهُ وَعْدَهُ
Allah shall never fail to fulfill His promise.
وَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْحَكِيمُ
He is the Almighty, the All-wise.
فَعَلَىٰ ٱلاطَائِبِ مِنْ اهْلِ بَيْتِ مُحَمَّد وَعَلِيٍّ
For the immaculate ones from the household of Mu¦ammad and `Al¢,
صَلَّىٰ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمَا وَآلِهِمَا
may Allah bless both of them and their household,
فَلْيَبْكِ ٱلْبَاكُونَ
let weepers weep.
وَإِِيَّاهُمْ فَلْيَنْدُبِ ٱلنَّادِبُونَ
For them too, let lamenters lament.
وَلِمِثْلِهِمْ فَلْتَذْرِفِ ٱلدُّمُوعُ
For the like of them, let tears be shed,
وَلْيَصْرُخِ ٱلصَّارِخُونَ
screamers scream,
وَيَضِجَّ ٱلضَّاجُّونَ
yellers yell,
وَيَعِجَّ ٱلْعَاجُّوَنَ
and wailers wail.
ايْنَ ٱلْحَسَنُ ايْنَ ٱلْحُسَيْنُ
Where is al-°asan? Where is al-°usayn?
ايْنَ ابْنَاءُ ٱلْحُسَيْنِ
Where are the sons of al-°usayn;
صَالِحٌ بَعْدَ صَالِحٍ
a virtuous one after another,
وَصَادِقٌ بَعْدَ صَادِقٍ
and a veracious one after another?
ايْنَ ٱلسَّبِيلُ بَعْدَ ٱلسَّبِيلِ
Where is the course (to Allah) after a course?
ايْنَ ٱلْخِيَرَةُ بَعْدَ ٱلْخِيَرَةِ
Where is the best after the best?
ايْنَ ٱلشُّمُوسُ ٱلطَّالِعَةُ
Where are the rising suns?
ايْنَ ٱلاقْمَارُ ٱلْمُنِيرَةُ
Where are the shining moons?
ايْنَ ٱلانْجُمُ ٱلزَّاهِرَةُ
Where are the brilliant stars?
ايْنَ اعْلاَمُ ٱلدِّينِ
Where are the authorities of the religion
وَقَوَاعِدُ ٱلْعِلْمِ
and the foundations of knowledge?
ايْنَ بَقِيَّةُ ٱللَّهِ
Where is the left by Allah
ٱلَّتِي لاََ تَخْلُو مِنَ ٱلْعِتْرَةِ ٱلْهَادِيةِ
that is always represented by individuals from the guiding (Prophetic) offspring?
اينَ ٱلْمُعَدُّ لِقَطْعِ دَابِرِ ٱلظَّلَمَةِ
Where is the one prepared for cutting off the roots of the wrongdoers?
ايْنَ ٱلْمُنْتَظَرُ لإِِِقَامَةِ ٱلامْتِ وَٱلعِوَجِ
Where is the one awaited for mending every unevenness and crookedness?
ايْنَ ٱلْمُرْتَجىٰ لإِِزَالَةِ ٱلْجَوْرِ وَٱلْعُدْوَانِ
Where is the one hoped for removing oppression and aggression?
ايْنَ ٱلْمُدَّخَرُ لِتَجْدِيدِ ٱلْفَرَائِضِ وَٱلسُّنَنِ
Where is the one spared for refreshing the duties and traditions?
ايْنَ ٱلْمُتَخَيَّرُ لإِِِعَادَةِ ٱلْمِلَّةِ وَٱلشَّرِيعَةِ
Where is the one chosen for restoring the faith and the code of law?
ايْنَ ٱلْمُؤَمَّلُ لإِِِحْيَاءِ ٱلْكِتَابِ وَحُدُودِهِ
Where is the one expected to restore to life the Book and its provisions?
ايْنَ مُحْيِي مَعَالِمِ ٱلدِّينِ وَاهْلِهِ
Where is the reviver of the elements of the religion and its people?
ايْنَ قَاصِمُ شَوْكَةِ ٱلْمُعْتَدِينَ
Where is the one shattering the arms of the aggressors?
ايْنَ هَادِمُ ابْنِيَةِ ٱلشِّرْكِ وَٱلنِّفَاقِ
Where is the one demolishing the edifices of polytheism and hypocrisy?
ايْنَ مُبِيدُ اهْلِ ٱلْفُسُوقِ
Where is the one annihilating the people of wickedness,
وَٱلْعِصْيَانِ وَٱلطُّغْيَانِ
disobedience, and tyranny?
ايْنَ حَاصِدُ فُرُوعِ ٱلْغَيِّ وَٱلشِّقَاقِ
Where is the one uprooting the branches of error and insurgence?
ايْنَ طَامِسُ آثَارِ ٱلزَّيْغِ وَٱلاهْوَاءِ
Where is the one effacing the traces of evasiveness and personal desires?
ايْنَ قَاطِعُ حَبَائِلِ ٱلْكِذْبِ وَٱلٱِفْتِرَاءِ
Where is the one severing the ropes of fabrication and forgery?
ايْنَ مُبِيدُ ٱلْعُتَاةِ وَٱلْمَرَدَةِ
Where is the one terminating the insolent defiant and persistent rebels?
ايْنَ مُسْتَاصِلُ اهْلِ ٱلْعِنَادِ وَٱلتَّضْلِيلِ وَٱلإِلْحَادِ
Where is the one tearing up the people of obstinacy, misleading, and atheism?
ايْنَ مُعِزُّ ٱلاوْلِيَاءِ وَمُذِلُّ ٱلاعْدَاءِ
Where is the one ennobling the saints and humiliating the enemies?
ايْنَ جَامِعُ ٱلْكَلِمَةِ عَلَىٰ ٱلتَّقْوَىٰ
Where is the one bringing together (all scattered) words to piety?
ايْنَ بَابُ ٱللَّهِ ٱلَّذِي مِنْهُ يُؤْتَىٰ
Where is the door of Allah from which Allah is come?
ايْنَ وَجْهُ ٱللَّهِ ٱلَّذِي إِِلَيْهِ يَتَوَجَّهُ ٱلاوْلِيَاءُ
Where is the Face of Allah towards whom the saints turn their faces.
ايْنَ ٱلسَّبَبُ ٱلْمُتَّصِلُ بَيْنَ ٱلارْضِ وَٱلسَّمَاءِ
Where is the means of access that is connectedly extended between the earth and the heavens.
ايْنَ صَاحِبُ يَوْمِ ٱلْفَتْحِ
Where is the patron of the Conquest Day
وَنَاشِرُ رَايَةِ ٱلْهُدَىٰ
and the stretcher of the pennon of true guidance?
ايْنَ مُؤَلِّفُ شَمْلِ ٱلصَّلاَحِ وَٱلرِّضَا
Where is the one reunifying the dispersed parts of uprightness and contentment?
ايْنَ ٱلطَّالِبُ بِذُحُولِ ٱلانْبِيَاءِ وَابْنَاءِ ٱلانْبِيَاءِ
Where is the one demanding with the vengeance of the Prophets and their sons?
ايْنَ ٱلطَّالِبُ بِدَمِ ٱلْمَقْتُولِ بِكَرْبَلاَءَ
Where is the one demanding with the blood of the one slain in Karbal¡’?
ايْنَ ٱلْمَنْصُورُ عَلَىٰ مَنِ ٱعْتَدَىٰ عَلَيْهِ وَٱفْتَرَىٰ
Where is the one granted aid against whomever transgresses and forges lies against him?
ايْنَ ٱلْمُضْطَرُّ ٱلَّذِي يُجَابُ إِِذَا دَعَا
Where is the distressed who is answered when he prays?
ايْنَ صَدْرُ ٱلْخَلاَئِقِ ذُوُ ٱلْبِرِّ وَٱلتَّقْوَىٰ
Where is the forepart of the creatures who enjoys dutifulness and piety?
ايْنَ ٱبْنُ ٱلنَّبِيِّ ٱلْمُصْطَفَىٰ
Where is the son of the well-chosen Prophet,
وَٱبْنُ عَلِيٍّ ٱلْمُرْتَضَىٰ
the son of `Al¢ the well-pleased,
وَٱبْنُ خَدِيـجَةَ ٱلْغَرَّاءِ
the son of Khad¢jah the glittery lady,
وَٱبْنُ فَاطِمَةَ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰ
and the son of F¡•imah the grand lady?
بِابِي انْتَ وَامِّي
May my father and mother be ransoms for you.
وَنَفْسِي لَكَ ٱلْوِقَاءُ وَٱلْحِمَىٰ
May my soul be protection and shield for you.
يَا بْنَ ٱلسَّادَةِ ٱلْمُقَرَّبِينَ
O son of the chiefs drawn near!
يَا بْنَ ٱلنُّجَبَاءِ ٱلاكْرَمِينَ
O son of the most honorable, outstanding ones!
يَا بْنَ ٱلْهُدَاةِ ٱلْمَهْدِيِّينَ
O son of the guiding and well-guided ones!
يَا بْنَ ٱلْخِيَرَةِ ٱلْمُهَذَّبِينَ
O son of the ever-best refined ones!
يَا بْنَ ٱلْغَطَارِفَةِ ٱلانْجَبِينَ
son of the all-liberal and all-select ones!
يَا بْنَ ٱلاطَائِبِ ٱلْمُطَهَّرِينَ
O son of the immaculate and purified ones!
يَا بْنَ ٱلْخَضَارِمَةِ ٱلْمُنْتَجَبِينَ
O son of the ample-giving, finely elected ones!
يَا بْنَ ٱلْقَمَاقِمَةِ ٱلاكْرَمِينَ
O son of the bounteous, most honorable ones!
يَا بْنَ ٱلْبُدُورِ ٱلْمُنِيرَةِ
O son of light-giving full moons!
يَا بْنَ ٱلسُّرُجِ ٱلْمُضِيئَةِ
O son of beaming lanterns!
يَا بْنَ ٱلشُّهُبِ ٱلثَّاقِبَةِ
O son of piercing flames!
يَا بْنَ ٱلانْجُمِ ٱلزَّاهِرَةِ
O son of luminous stars!
يَا بْنَ ٱلسُّبُلِ ٱلْوَاضِحَةِ
O son of patent ways!
يَا بْنَ ٱلاعْلاَمِ ٱللاَّئِحَةِ
O son of obvious signs!
يَا بْنَ ٱلْعُلُومِ ٱلْكَامِلَةِ
O son of perfect knowledge!
يَا بْنَ ٱلسُّنَنِ ٱلْمَشْهُورَةِ
O son of renowned traditions!
يَا بْنَ ٱلْمَعَالِمِ ٱلْمَاثُورَةِ
O son of well-established features!
يَا بْنَ ٱلْمُعْجِزَاتِ ٱلْمَوْجُودَةِ
O son of well-known miracles!
يَا بْنَ ٱلدَّلاَئِلِ ٱلْمَشْهُودَةِ
O son of widely witnessed demonstrations!
يَا بْنَ ٱلصِّرَاطِ ٱلْمُسْتَقِيمِ
O son of the straight path!
يَا بْنَ ٱلنَّبَإِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
O son of the great news!
يَا بْنَ مَنْ هُوَ فِي امِّ ٱلْكِتَابِ لَدَىٰ ٱللَّهِ عَلِيٌّ حَكِيمٌ
O son of him who is elevated and full of wisdom in the original of the Book with Allah.
يَا بْنَ ٱلآيَاتِ وَٱلْبَيِّنَاتِ
O son of signs and manifestations!
يَا بْنَ ٱلدَّلاَئِلِ ٱلظَّاهِرَاتِ
O son of apparent points of evidence!
يَا بْنَ ٱلْبَرَاهِينِ ٱلْوَاضِحَاتِ ٱلْبَاهِرَاتِ
O son of clear-cut and dazzling substantiations!
يَا بْنَ ٱلْحُجَجِ ٱلْبَالِغَاتِ
O son of conclusive arguments!
يَا بْنَ ٱلنِّعَمِ ٱلسَّابِغَاتِ
O son of superabundant bounties!
يَا بْنَ طـٰهٰ وَٱلْمُحْكَمَاتِ
O son of ±¡h¡ and the decisive (verses)!
يَا بْنَ يـٰس وَٱلذَّارِيَاتِ
O son of Y¡s¢n and al-Dh¡riy¡t (the winnowing winds)!
يَا بْنَ ٱلطُّورِ وَٱلْعَادِيَاتِ
O son of al-±£r (the Mount of Revelation) and al-`ªdiy¡t (the running steeds)!
يَا بْنَ مَنْ دَنَا فَتَدَلَّىٰ
O son of him who drew near and then bowed;
فَكَانَ قَابَ قَوْسَيْنِ اوْ ادْنَىٰ
he therefore was the measure of two bows or closer still;
دُنُوّاً وَٱقْتِرَاباً مِنَ ٱلْعَلِيِّ ٱلاعْلَىٰ
nearness and closeness to the Most High and Most Exalted (Lord)!
لَيْتَ شِعْرِي ايْنَ ٱسْتَقَرَّتْ بِكَ ٱلنَّوَىٰ
How I wonder! Where has farness taken you?
بَلْ ايُّ ارْضٍ تُقِلُّكَ اوْ ثَرَىٰ
Or which land or soil is carrying you?
ابِرَضْوَىٰ اوْ غَيْرِهَا امْ ذِي طُوَىٰٰ
Is it on (Mount) Ra¤w¡ or elsewhere on (Mount) Dh¢-±uw¡?
عَزِيزٌ عَلَيَّ انْ ارَىٰ ٱلْخَلْقَ وَلاَ تُرَىٰ
It is hard for me that I can see all creatures but I can neither see you
وَلاَ اسْمَعُ لَكَ حَسِيساً وَلاَ نَجْوَىٰ
nor can I hear any whisper or confidential talk from you!
عَزِيزٌ عَلَيَّ انْ تُحِيطَ بِكَ دُونِيَ ٱلْبَلْوَىٰ
It is hard for me that ordeals encompass you, not me
وَلاَ يَنَالُكَ مِنِّي ضَجِيجٌ وَلاَ شَكْوَىٰ
and neither cry nor complaint from me can rally round you!
بِنَفْسِي انْتَ مِنْ مُغَيَّبٍ لَمْ يَخْلُ مِنَّا
May my soul be ransom for you; for although you are hidden from us, you have never forsaken us.
بِنَفْسِي انْتَ مِنْ نَازِحٍ مَا نَزَحَ عَنَّا
May my soul be ransom for you; for although you are away, you have never been away from us.
بِنَفْسِي انْتَ امْنِيَّةُ شَائِقٍ يَتَمَنَّىٰ
May my soul be ransom for you; for you are the wish of an eager
مِنْ مُؤْمِنٍ وَمُؤْمِنَةٍ ذَكَرَا فَحَنَّا
believing man or woman who mention you and miss you.
بِنَفْسِي انْتَ مِنْ عَقِيدِ عِزٍّ لاَ يُسَامَىٰ
May my soul be ransom for you; for you are an unmatched pioneer of dignity.
بِنَفْسِي انْتَ مِنْ اثِيلِ مَجْدٍ لاَ يُجَارَىٰ
May my soul be ransom for you; for you are an unrivaled origin of glory.
بِنَفْسِي انْتَ مِنْ تِلاَدِ نِعَمٍ لاََ تُضَاهَىٰ
May my soul be ransom for you; for you are unparalleled center of bounties.
بِنَفْسِي انْتَ مِنْ نَصِيفِ شَرَفٍ لاََ يُسَاوَىٰ
May my soul be ransom for you; for you are unequaled in all-inclusive honor.
إِلَىٰ مَتَىٰ احَارُ فِيكَ يَا مَوْلاَيَ وَإِِلَىٰ مَتَىٰ
Until when will I be bewildered about you, O my master, and until when?
وَايَّ خِطَابٍ اصِفُ فِيكَ وَايَّ نَجْوَىٰ
In what kind of statement and in what kind of talk can I describe you?
عَزِيزٌ عَلَيَّ انْ اجَابَ دُونَكَ وَانَاغَىٰ
It is hard for me that I can receive answers and words, but you cannot.
عَزِيزٌ عَلَيَّ انْ ابْكِيَكَ وَيَخْذُلَكَ ٱلْوَرَىٰ
It is hard for me that I weep for you but the others disappoint you.
عَزِيزٌ عَلَيَّ انْ يَجْرِيَ عَلَيْكَ دُونَهُمْ مَا جَرَىٰ
It is hard for me that what has happened afflict you other than all the others.
هَلْ مِنْ مُعِينٍ فَاطِيلَ مَعَهُ ٱلْعَوِيلَ وَٱلْبُكَاءَ
Is there any helper with whom I may lament and bewail as much as I wish?
هَلْ مِنْ جَزُوعٍ فَاسَاعِدَ جَزَعَهُ إِِذَا خَلاَ
Is there any aggrieved one whom I can help in grief when he becomes tired?
هَلْ قَذِيَتْ عَيْنٌ فَسَاعَدَتْهَا عَيْنِي عَلَىٰ ٱلْقَذَىٰ
Is there any eye moling out and thus my eye may help it to mol out more?
هَلْ إِِلَيْكَ يَا بْنَ احْمَدَ سَبِيلٌ فَتُلْقَىٰ
Is there any way to meet you, O son of A¦mad (the Prophet)?
هَلْ يَتَّصِلُ يَوْمُنَا مِنْكَ بِعِدَةٍ فَنَحْظَىٰ
Will our day be promised to catch your day and we will thus achieve our hope?
مَتَىٰ نَرِدُ مَنَاهِلَكَ ٱلرَّوِيَّةَ فَنَرْوَىٰ
When will we be able to join your refreshing springs and we will then be satiated?
مَتَىٰ نَنْتَقِعُ مِنْ عَذْبِ مَائِكَ
When will we quench our thirst from your fresh water,
فَقَدْ طَالَ ٱلصَّدَىٰ
because thirst has been too long?
مَتَىٰ نُغَادِيكَ وَنُرَاوِحُكَ فَنُقِرَّ عَيْناً
When will we accompany you in coming and going so that our eyes will be delighted?
مَتَىٰ تَرَانَا وَنَرَاكَ وَقَدْ نَشَرْتَ لِوَاءَ ٱلنَّصْرِ تُرَىٰ
When will you see us and we see you spreading the pennon of victory?
اتَرَانَا نَحُفُّ بِكَ وَانْتَ تَؤُمُّ ٱلْمَلَا
Can it be that we surround you while you are leading the groups,
وَقَدْ مَلَاتَ ٱلارْضَ عَدْلاًَ
after you will have filled in the earth with justice,
وَاذَقْتَ اعْدَاءَكَ هَوَاناً وَعِقَاباً
tasted your enemies humiliation and punishment,
وَابَرْتَ ٱلْعُتَاةَ وَجَحَدَةَ ٱلْحَقِّ
annihilated the insolent defiant and the deniers of the truth,
وَقَطَعْتَ دَابِرَ ٱلْمُتَكَبِّرِينَ
cut off the roots of the arrogant,
وَٱجْتَثَثْتَ اصُولَ ٱلظَّالِمِينَ
eradicated the sources of the wrongdoers,
وَنَحْنُ نَقُولُ ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلْعَالَمِينَ
and we keep on saying, “All praise be to Allah the Lord of the worlds?”
اَللَّهُمَّ انْتَ كَشَّافُ ْٱلكُرَبِ وَٱلْبَلْوَىٰ
O Allah, You are verily the reliever from agonies and ordeals.
وَإِِلَيْكَ اسْتَعْدِي فَعِنْدَكَ ٱلْعَدْوَىٰ
To You do I complain about the transgressions against me, for You alone are worthy of receiving complaints,
وَانْتَ رَبُّ ٱلآخِرَةِ وَٱلدُّنْيَا
and You are alone the Lord of the Hereafter and this world.
فَاغِثْ يَا غِيَاثَ ٱلْمُسْتَغِيثِينَ عُبَيْدَكَ ٱلْمُبْتَلَىٰ
So, (please) aid Your agonized worthless servant, O Aide of those who seek aid,
وَارِهِ سَيِّدَهُ يَا شَدِيدَ ٱلْقُوَىٰ
grant him (i.e. Your servant) chance to see his master, O Lord of mighty prowess,
وَازِلْ عَنْهُ بِهِ ٱلاسَىٰ وَٱلْجَوَىٰ
remove from him misfortune and anguish, in the name of his master,
وَبَرِّدْ غَلِيلَهُ يَا مَنْ عَلَىٰ ٱلْعَرْشِ ٱسْتَوَىٰ
and satisfy his thirst, O He Who is established on the Throne
وَمَنْ إِِلَيْهِ ٱلرُّجْعَىٰ وَٱلْمُنْتَهَىٰ
and He to Whom is the return and the final goal.
اَللَّهُمَّ وَنَحْنُ عَبِيدُكَ ٱلتَّائِقُونَ إِلَىٰ وَلِيِّكَ
O Allah, we are Your servants who are fervently willing to meet Your vicegerent,
ٱلْمُذَكِّرِ بِكَ وَبِنَبِيِّكَ
who reminds of You and Your Prophet;
خَلَقْتَهُ لَنَا عِصْمَةً وَمَلاَذاً
and whom You have created as haven and refuge for us,
وَاقَمْتَهُ لَنَا قِوَاماً وَمَعَاذاً
You have appointed as foundation and source of protection for us,
وَجَعَلْتَهُ لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ مِنَّا إِِمَاماً
and whom You have made to be the leader of the believers among us.
فَبَلِّغْهُ مِنَّا تَحِيَّةً وَسَلاَماً
So, (please) convey to him greetings and salutations from us,
وَزِدْنَا بِذٰلِكَ يَا رَبِّ إِِكْرَاماً
endue us with more honor, O my Lord, through that,
وَٱجْعَلْ مُسْتَقَرَّهُ لَنَا مُسْتَقَرّاً وَمُقَاماً
decide his settlement among us to be settlement and dwelling for us,
وَاتْمِمْ نِعْمَتَكَ بِتَقْدِيـمِكَ إِِيَّاهُ امَامَنَا
and perfect Your bounty by making him occupy the leading position before us
حَتَّىٰ تُورِدَنَا جِنَانَكَ
so that You shall allow us to enter the gardens of Your Paradise
وَمُرَافَقَةَ ٱلشُّهَدَاءِ مِنْ خُلَصَائِكَ
and to accompany the martyrs from among Your elite ones.
اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ
O Allah, (please) send blessings upon Mu¦ammad and the Household of Mu¦ammad;([1])
وَصَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ جَدِّهِ وَرَسُولِكَ
and send blessings upon Mu¦ammad his grandfather and Your messenger;
ٱلسَّيِّدِ ٱلاكْبَرِ
the senior master,
وَعَلَىٰ ابِيهِ ٱلسَّيِّدِ ٱلاصْغَرِ
upon his father the junior master,
وَجَدَّتِهِ ٱلصِّدِّيقَةِ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰ
upon his grandmother the grand veracious lady
فَاطِمَةَ بِنْتِ مُحَمَّدٍ
F¡•imah the daughter of Mu¦ammad,
صَلَّىٰ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ
peace be upon him and his Household,
وَعَلَىٰ مَنِ ٱصْطَفَيْتَ مِنْ آبَائِهِ ٱلْبَرَرَةِ
upon his dutiful fathers whom You have chosen (over all others),
وَعَلَيْهِ افْضَلَ وَاكْمَلَ
and upon him with such most favorable, most perfect,
وَاتَمَّ وَادْوَمَ
most thorough, most permanent,
وَاكْثَرَ وَاوْفَرَ
most abundant, and most plentiful
مَا صَلَّيْتَ عَلَىٰ احَدٍ مِنْ اصْفِيَائِكَ
blessings that You have ever sent upon any of Your elite ones
وَخِيَرَتِكَ مِنْ خَلْقِكَ
and well-chosen ones among Your creatures.
وَصَلِّ عَلَيْهِ صَلاَةً لاََ غَايَةَ لِعَدَدِهَا
And (please) bless him with such blessings whose number is infinite,
وَلاَ نِهَايَةَ لِمَدَدِهَا
whose quantity is never-ending,
وَلاَ نَفَادَ لاِمَدِهَا
and whose time is interminable.
اَللَّهُمَّ وَاقِمْ بِهِ ٱلْحَقَّ
O Allah! Through him, establish all rights,
وَادْحِضْ بِهِ ٱلْبَاطِلَ
refute the entire wrong,
وَادِلْ بِهِ اوْلِيَاءَكَ
grant triumph to Your loyalists,
وَاذْلِلْ بِهِ اعْدَاءَكَ
humiliate Your enemies,
وَصِلِ ٱللَّهُمَّ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَهُ
establish, O Allah, between him and us
وُصْلَةً تُؤَدِّي إِلَىٰ مُرَافَقَةِ سَلَفِهِ
a connection that leads us to accompany his ancestors,
وَٱجْعَلْنَا مِمَّنْ يَاخُذُ بِحُجْزَتِهِمْ
include us with those who will take their vengeance
وَيَمْكُثُ فِي ظِلِّهِمْ
and keep constant under their shadow,
وَاعِنَّا عَلَىٰ تَادِيَةِ حُقُوقِهِ إِِلَيْهِ
help us fulfill our duties towards him,
وَٱلِٱجْتِهَادِ فِي طَاعَتِهِ
exert all efforts in obedience to him
وَٱجْتِنَابِ مَعْصِيَتِهِ
and avoiding disobeying him,
وَٱمْنُنْ عَلَيْنَا بِرِضَاهُ
bestow upon us with the favor of attaining his pleasure,
وَهَبْ لَنَا رَافَتَهُ وَرَحْمَتَهُ
and grant us his kindness, mercy,
وَدُعَاءَهُ وَخَيْرَهُ
prayer (for us), and his goodness
مَا نَنَالُ بِهِ سَعَةً مِنْ رَحْمَتِكَ
in an amount due to which we will gain a good deal of Your mercy
وَفَوْزاً عِنْدَكَ
and achievement with You.
وَٱجْعَلْ صَلاَتَنَا بِهِ مَقبُولَةً
And, through him, render our prayers admitted,
وَذُنُوبَنَا بِهِ مَغْفُورَةً
our sins forgiven,
وَدُعَاءَنَا بِهِ مُسْتَجَاباً
and our supplications responded.
وَٱجْعَلْ ارْزَاقَنَا بِهِ مَبْسُوطَةً
And, through him too, make our sustenance expanded for us,
وَهُمُومَنَا بِهِ مَكْفِيَّةً
our distresses relieved,
وَحَوَائِجَنَا بِهِ مَقْضِيَّةً
and our needs granted.
وَاقْبِلْ إِِلَيْنَا بِوَجْهِكَ ٱلْكَرِيـمِ
And (please) receive us with Your Noble Face,
وَٱقْبَلْ تَقَرُّبَنَا إِِلَيْكَ
approve of our seeking nearness to You,
وَٱنْظُرْ إِِلَيْنَا نَظْرَةً رَحِيمَةً
and have a merciful look at us
نَسْتَكْمِلُ بِهَا ٱلْكَرَامَةَ عِنْدَكَ
by which we will win perfect honor with You;
ثُمَّ لاََ تَصْرِفْهَا عَنَّا بِجُودِكَ
and, after that, do not ever take it away from us, in the name of Your magnanimity,
وَٱسْقِنَا مِنْ حَوْضِ جَدِّهِ
and give us a drink from the Pond of his grandfather,
صَلَّىٰ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ
may Allah bless him and his Household,
بِكَاسِهِ وَبِيَدِهِ
from his own cup and with his own hand,
رَيّاً رَوِيّاً
such a replete, satiating,
هَنِيئاً سَائِغاً
pleasant, and wholesome drink
لاََ ظَمَا بَعْدَهُ
after which we shall never suffer from thirst.
يَا ارْحَمَ ٱلرَّاحِمينَ
O most merciful of all those who show mercy!

Bismillaahir rahmaanir raheem
Alhamdo lillaahe rabbil a’alameena wa sallallaaho a’laa sayyedenaa mohammadin nabiyyehi wa aalehi wa sallama tasleeman allaahumma lakal hamdo a’laa maa jaraa behi qazaaa-oka fee awleyaaa-ekal lazeenas takhlastahum lenafseka wa deeneka ezikh tarta lahum jazeela maa i’ndaka menan na-e’emil moqeemil lazee laa zawaala lahu wa laz-mehlaala ba’da an sharatta a’layhemuz zohda fee darajaate haazehid dunyad daniyyate wa zukhrofehaa wa zibrejehaa fa-sharatoo laka zaaleka wa ‘alimta minhomul wafaaa-a behi faqabiltahum wa qarrabtahum wa qaddamta lahomuz zikral a’liyya was sanaaa-al jaliyya wa ahbatta a’layhim malaaa-ekataka wa karramtahum be-wah-yeka wa rafadtahum be-i’lmeka wa ja-a’ltahomuz zaree-a’ta elayka wal waseelata elaa rizwaaneka fa-ba’-zun askantahu jannataka elaa an akhrajtahu minhaa
Wa ba’-zun hamaltahu fee fulkeka wa najjaytahu wa man aamana ma-a’hu menal halakate berahmateka wa ba’-zun ittakhaztahu lenafseka khaleelan wa sa-alaka lesaana sidqin fil aakhereena fa-ajabtahu wa ja-a’lta zaaleka a’liyyan wa ba’-zun kallamtahu min shajaratin takleeman wa ja-a’lta lahu min akheehe rid-an wa wazeeran wa ba’-zun awladtahu min ghayre abin wa aataytahul bayyenaate wa ayyadtahu be-roohil qodose wa kullun shara’-ta lahu sharee-a’tan wa nahajta lahu minhaajan wa takhayyarta lahu awseyaaa-a mustahfezan ba’-da mustahfezin min muddatin elaa muddatin eqaamatan le-deeneka wa hujjatan a’laa e’baadeka wa le-allaa yazoolal haqqo a’n maqarrehi wa yaghlebal baatelo a’laa ahlehi wa laa yaqoola ahadun lawlaa arsalta elaynaa rasoolan munzeran wa aqamta lanaa a’laman haadeyan fanattabe-a’ aayaateka min qable an nazilla wa nakhzaa
Elaa anin tahayta bil-amre elaa habeebeka wa najeebeka mohammadin sallallaaho a’layhe wa aalehi fa-kaana kaman tajabtahu sayyeda man khalaqtahu wa safwata manis- tafaytahu wa afzala manij tabaytahu wa akrama manea’ tamadtahu qaddamtahu a’laa ambeyaaa-eka wa ba-a’stahu elas-saqalayne min e’baadeka wa aw-taatahu mashaareqaka wa maghaarebaka wa sakhkharta lahul boraaqa wa a’rajta be roohe-hi elaa samaaa-eka wa awda’-tahu i’lma maa kaana wa maa yakoono elan qezaaa-e khalqeka summa nasartahu bir roa’-be wa hafaftahu be-jabra-eela wa meekaa-eela wal mosawwemeena min malaaa-ekateka wa wa-aztahu an tuzhera deenahu a’lad deene kullehi wa law-karehal mushrekoona wa zaaleka ba’-da an bawwa-tahu mobawwa-a sidqin min ahlehi wa ja-a’lta lahu wa lahum awwala baytin woze-a’ lin-naase lal-lazee be-bakkata mobaarakan wa hodal lil a’alameena feehe aayaatun bayyenaatun maqaamo ibraaheema wa man dakhalahu kaana aamenan wa qulta innamaa yoreedullaaho le-yuzheba a’nkomur rijsa ahlal bayte wa yotahherakum tatheeraa
