Etude House PK011 Petite Darling Nail Polish Review, Pictures, Swatches
Last week I reviewed YesStyle Korean Beauty Sample Kit , so if you read that post, you remember that I promised you swatches of this polish. Well, here they are!
Etude House PK011 Petite Darling Nail Polish
Etude House PK011 Petite Darling Nail Polish
Etude House PK011 Petite Darling Nail Polish
Etude House PK011 Petite Darling Nail Polish is best described as soft baby pink creme, and the color reaches full opacity after 2 coats. Application-wise I thought it was slightly streaky, but a nice thick layer of Seche Vite top coat evened it all out nicely. The brush is a standard size, making the polish fairly easy to apply.
As with all Etude House products, the packaging is adorable – this nail polish looks like a pink potion, which could make a darling accessory to display on your vanity table. However, as pretty as it is, the longevity is quite disappointing, or at least it was on me. I got my first chip after two days, and I’m not even hard on my nails [I do all of the housework wearing silicone gloves, always]; a disappointing result from such an established brand.
THE VERDICT
Despite the decent color payoff and cute packaging, this polish has a quick-chipping formula, showing some very noticeable signs of wear after just two days.

REVIEW: Etude House Play Nails in #1, #4 & #100
Just like putting on a pair of killer heels or pairing your best outfit with a statement necklace, nail polish is like the icing on the cake when it comes to dressing. It can put a finishing touch to your perfect outfit and make you feel glamorous, or spice up an old outfit to make it looks new once again. Whether you are an amateur or a connoisseur of nail art, the secret to attaining the perfect mani/pedi lies in owning a great nail polish.
I stumbled upon the Etude House Play Nails during a store wide sales event. What caught my attention to the nail polishes were its clean and neat packaging with a wide range of colours on display! More than 50 over colours and in all kinds of finishes; Glossy, Matte, Glittery, Gel, etc. How could one resist trying out the nail polishes upon seeing such a pretty scene?
After trying out the testers, I decided to spoil myself with these nail polishes: #1, #4 and #100. #1 is your simple white, #4 is a feminine rose quartz colour and #100 is your jet black. All of them are in Matte Finishes.
(Left to Right: Etude House Play Nail in #100, #4 and #1)
The nail polish is contained in a clear petite glass bottle with a white cap. As compared to the nail polishes from Ciate, the brush applicator is the perfect size for me. Not only is the brush applicator easy to work with my tiny fingers, it glides on smoothly on my nails, making the application fuss free with a gorgeous and smooth texture. It dries up quickly too in comparison to those from Ciate. Texture wise, it is consistent, not thick and yet, the formula is opaque enough. Just a coat is enough to get a full colour. Coupled with a nice topcoat, it lasts me approx for 6 – 7 days. After that, it started to chip off. As a matter of fact, I’m actually pretty impressed with the colour payoff.
Not only can one wear the nail polishes on its own, the nail polishes from Etude House can also be used to create intricate nail art designs. With an image of a design that I had taken from a nail salon, I recreated the design using these nail polishes from Etude House instead. Plus some nail accessories that I have. Talk about fuss free and cost saving results!

(Natural Light: Nail Art Design created using Etude House Play Nail in #1, #4 and #100)
Last but not least, it is easily removable with any nail polish remover. Upon removal, the nails beneath it still looks good; neither cracked nor flaking.
Summary:
Pros and Cons
If I would have to make a choice between the nail polishes from Ciate and Etude House, I would most probably choose the Play Nail from Etude House. In my humble opinion, Etude House has one of the best nail polish collection that are not only affordable, quick-drying, long-lasting and comes in many lovely colours and finishes to suit everyone’s taste. To sum it up, the nail polishes from Etude House is Worth Every Penny.
For those with sensitive nose, you may want to take note that the Etude House Play Nail polishes have a stronger smell as compared to other brands. It may irritate your nose. My partner, who has a sensitive nose could smell the nail polish from the living room even though I’m doing my manicure inside the bedroom. The smell does linger for awhile in the room even after application. For me, it doesn’t pose a problem. Heads up for those with sensitive nose!
Availability and Prices:
The Etude House Play Nails are available in all stores in Singapore from S$3.90 – S$5.90.
#1, #4 and #100 are at S$3.90 each. For international shipping, you may purchase it at http://www.etudehouse.com
The Verdict: Yay or Nay?
Absolutely a YAY! I’m in love with it over my nail polishes from Ciate. In fact, I’m actually going to browse through their Nail Polishes from the newly release Berry Delicious Strawberry Souffle Nail Collection after posting this review. Do anticipate yet another Nail Polish Haul!
Have you had any manicures done before using the Nail Polishes from Etude House? What have your experiences been? Share in the comments!

Etude House Give Me Chocolate Nail Polish Review
image from http://beautynetkorea.com/product/Etude-House-Give-Me-Chocolate-Shadow-3-Color-4-5g/KRETUDMK0002690
For those who follow my blog, you will know that I purchased several items from the Etude House Give Me Chocolate line and I have reviewed the trio of eye shadow palettes already. I finally got my nail polishes and am excited to review them for you. This collection is a limited release for Valentine’s Day, 2015 and still is available for purchase.
First Up
This collection had 6 nail polishes to choose from ~ from a pale creamy white to a deep dark chocolate brown.
image from http://w2beauty.com/en/etude-house-nails/16618-etude-house-give-me-chocolate-nail-6-colors-ltd-ed.html

I choose the Mint Chocolate Chip, Salted Caramel and Cherry Ganache. I thought those were the most unique of the 6 shades.
The Goods
Opposite Attract Mint Chocolate Chip ~ This is the most fun shade of the trio I purchased and I am a huge fan of wearing blue and green nail polishes! It looks more of a turquoise in the promotional photos and in my own photos, it looks like it is a light blue….but in real life, this is a mint green with blue tones shade with brown glitter in micro and medium hexagon shapes. This shade applied smoothly, despite glitter in polish, no gloppy coverage ~ needs 3 coats.
Devilish Cherry Ganache ~ A lovely medium crème reddish-brown shade, very muted and very appropriate for daily wear at work. This shade applied smoothly, no gloppy coverage ~ needs 3 coats.
Mind Charging Salted Caramel ~ chocolate brown polish with plum-red tones with golden glitter chunks of different sizes. This is my favorite of the three shades. This shade was not a smooth finish ~ it was thick and gloppy. Needs 3 coats for optimal coverage.

Swatches
I also tried to replicate the dripping chocolate on the mint nail polish
From left to right: Mint Chocolate Chip, Salted Caramel, Cherry Ganache, Mint Chocolate Chip with Salted Caramel “drips”
The above photo probably is closer to the Mint Chocolate Chip color than other photos. You can see it does have a green color.
Final Thoughts
The colors on all 3 of these shades are beautiful and I love them all for different reasons ~ the mint chocolate is fun and playful, salted caramel is sultry and sexy and the cherry gauche is a traditional daily wear polish. That said, the dry times on these polishes were slow and you do need 3 coats to get full coverage without streaking, so plan on doing nothing one evening except watching a movie for a couple of hours if you want to do your nails. Are they long lasting or chip resistant? I am the worst person to ask this question ~ no polish ever lasts chip resistant on me more than a few hours. I can actually peel nail polish off ~ even glitter ones! I have tried just about everything, but I have resigned myself that I will be touching up or changing polish every 2 days.
I purchased these at W2 Beauty and they were $6.99 apiece with free shipping.
